This week at The Hartford Ski Spectacular, Breezy and Karen had the honor of personally meeting Mary Ellen Whitney, Founder of STRIDE Adaptive Sports—and celebrating the impact of her lifelong commitment to adaptive sports.

We are incredibly grateful to Mary Ellen for her generous donation of two monoskis to Fundación Desafío Bariloche in Argentina. These monoskis will directly expand access to adaptive snowsports for individuals with disabilities, creating opportunity, independence, and joy— far beyond our borders.

It was especially meaningful to witness Move United Sport present Mary Ellen with the Adaptive Hall of Fame Award, a well-deserved recognition of her vision, leadership, and lasting impact on the adaptive community.

This is what collaboration looks like. This is how access grows. This is Valor Without Borders. 🌍✨

Back to where it all began—this week at Move United Sport and The Hartford Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge, Colorado 🏔️❄️

Where Breezy and Karen met, and a simple conversation began—one that would eventually evolve into a mission to connect more Veterans with adaptive sports beyond our borders —that became Valor Without Borders 🇺🇸➡️🌎

From shared turns on snow 🏂🎿 to global missions ✈️🌐, that vision now lives on through adventure, purpose, and connection. We’re proving that healing and opportunity don’t stop at national lines.

This is why we return . This is how we grow.

🌎✈️ Our last day in Argentina was a powerful reminder that life is all about how you respond, pivot, and adapt.

We didn’t know until the very end that much of our expedition’s original plans —including meetings and member arrivals— had been impacted by the nationwide air traffic controller strikes. Of course, we found out in our way home, when nearly every flight out of Bariloche was canceled, cutting our time in Buenos Aires short.

But with some quick thinking, we rerouted into a different airport and still managed to make it happen and get home on-time. 💪⚓

The trip ended on the highest note: finally meeting up with our military liaison, Lieutenant Laura. Bravo Zulu, shipmate—you helped make this mission truly a success! 🚀🇦🇷🇺🇸

We also want to thank Delta Air Lines for what truly felt like the red carpet treatment in Buenos Aires—from assistance straight out of the taxi, ticketing, navigating to the oversize baggage claim, and right through security. Your support made all the difference. 🙌✈️

At Valor Without Borders, we know that resilience and adaptability aren’t just part of exploration—they are the mission.

It was truly an honor to meet with the Commander of Prefectura Naval Bariloche, Argentina’s Coast Guard. 🇦🇷⚓

Our conversation was full of mutual learning—we shared stories from our service, reflected on the healing power of sports and outdoor adventure, and compared how Argentina and the United States support service members as they transition to civilian life.

This meeting was a powerful reminder that even though our uniforms and flags are different, the sense of duty, camaraderie, and resilience that define service members and Veterans are universal. Veterans helping Veterans is a bond without borders. By learning from one another’s programs and experiences, we grow stronger together. 🌍💪

The mountains don’t always give us perfect conditions—but that’s the point. ❄️⛷️🏔️

Adventure therapy isn’t about taking the easy path—it’s about the mountains we choose to face and overcome. Out on the snow, we’re challenged as individuals with every turn, yet reminded of the power of the team beside us. The camaraderie, the encouragement, the laughter, and even the wipeouts feel just like the bonds we shared in the military. 💪✨

Because at the end of the day, fresh air and sunshine aren’t just good for the body—they’re the best cure for the soul. 🌞

Your journey only stops at the pavement if you allow it. 🛣️

At Valor Without Borders, we believe your adventure doesn’t have to end where the pavement does—because if there’s a will, there’s always a way forward. 💪🌍 That belief carried us past the end of the road and onto the slopes of Mount Tronador in Patagonia, where we reached Ventisquero Negro. 🏔️

Unlike the brilliant white and blue ice you expect from a glacier, this one is cloaked in dark volcanic rock and debris. 🧊🪨 The short journey wasn’t easy, but standing before the glacier proved what we already knew: exploration isn’t about limits, it’s about possibilities. ✨

Every foot beyond the pavement is a reminder that resilience, courage, and determination take you further than any road ever could. 🚀🌄

🇦🇷✨ Exploring Bariloche isn’t just about the stunning mountain views—it’s about immersing ourselves in the heartbeat of the town: its unique and rich history, delicious food, and vibrant culture. From their world famous chocolates to cozy cafés, every corner tells a story. 🍫☕🏔️

As we wandered through shops and restaurants, one thing became clear: sometimes a single step is all that separates someone from entering—or going to the next establishment. 🚶‍♀️↔️♿
That’s why it matters to support and celebrate the businesses that have that accessibility.

Accessibility isn’t about changing the spirit of a place. Knowing which restaurants and stores to visit in advance that are fully ADA accessible can really elevate the experience. Adventure, culture, and connection belongs to all of us. 🌍💙

While waiting for teammates to arrive in Bariloche, Valor Without Borders took some time to explore a few natural sites and assess their accessibility. 🌿

We visited the Cerro Leones Cavernas del Viejo Volcan—formed by the ancient Cerro Leones volcano and once home to indigenous peoples more than 8,000 years ago. The cave paintings and artifacts echo the stories of the region’s earliest inhabitants, while today’s modern graffiti reflects the early visitors who have wandered through. 🌋

Our philosophy is simple: we don’t want to change nature for you—we want you to rise to the challenge. With the right training, skills, and equipment, more becomes possible. Starting with natural tourist attractions is just the first step in building confidence and capability in the wild.

As part of our mission, we’re creating a guide to adaptive tourism—showcasing what’s truly achievable with preparation and the right mindset, while still honoring and preserving these incredible spaces. We’re also spotlighting the sites, shops, and restaurants that go beyond the basic ADA checkmarks, highlighting those that are genuinely accessible and thoughtfully designed for every visitor.

Though getting to the caves is not wheelchair accessible, they can still be experienced by people with certain disabilities—and with the right adaptive equipment, possibilities continue to expand.

By sharing insights like these, we hope to empower everyone to embrace the challenge of travel—because adventure belongs to us all.
