FYI for our southern Breckenridge and wheeler residents!

Consumers Energy Planned power Outage July 25th.

Consumers Energy crews will be doing some work on a circuit of our Edgewood Substation on July 25th (backup date of August 1st) between at 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

During that time, approximately 524 customers will be without power. Each customer will have been notified of this work ahead of time.

The attached map shows the area where the power outage will occur.

At 8:43 AM this morning, we were toned to a commercial fire at Michigan Agriculture Commodities- Ransom road.

Crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming from an undetermined source. Some units climbed the 300’ bins, while others made access in a basement.

We were able to locate the source in the basement and extinguish it.

Thank you to MAC for leading us around and helping us out.

As always, we couldn’t have done this without our mutual aid partner, St. Louis Area Fire Department and the wonderful dispatchers of Gratiot County Central Dispatch & Gratiot Emergency Management.

🚒 Training Night!
This week, our crew worked on double porta-tank drafting, with every firefighter getting hands-on time at the pump panel. Together, we established an impressive 6,000 gallons of standby water, sharpening the skills needed to provide a dependable water supply in rural firefighting operations. Great work by everyone who came out and continues to train hard to serve our community! 💪🔥

While passing through the village yesterday we spotted one of St. Louis Area Fire Department’s elusive white vehicles.

Man, that truck blends right in! If you aren’t careful people are going to think you’re a cop!👮

We had a great group of students attend our CPR class at the fire station!

These students took the initiative to learn lifesaving skills to help prepare them for babysitting, emergencies, and their future careers. We’re proud to see young people stepping up to better understand how to respond when someone needs help most.

Thank you to everyone who attended and worked hard throughout the class. The knowledge and confidence you gained today could truly save a life someday!
