After 17 years of dedicated public service, Village Clerk Bridget McPherson is moving on to the next chapter of her career. Throughout her tenure, Bridget has been a cornerstone of the Village of Breckenridge, leaving a legacy of structural growth and financial health that will impact our community for generations.

Using her skills for organization and accounting, Bridget helped revitalize the Village’s financial framework. Her talent for procuring and administering complex grants helped build robust financial accounts and directly funded critical, large-scale infrastructure. Her portfolio of structural achievements includes:

Utility & Water Systems: The modernization of thousands of feet of water, sewer, and storm water pipes, alongside 5 new lift stations, major water plant upgrades, new wells, and a 300,000-gallon water tower.

Economic & Recreational Space: The expansion of Ridgelawn cemetery, the development of Phases 1 and 2 of the industrial park, and numerous playground enhancements. Her leadership on the beloved JC and Hoffmeyer Park splash pad continues to bring joy to local families every single hot day during the summer.

Public Safety Operations: Crucial administrative support for the Breckenridge/Wheeler Fire and Rescue Department, securing vital equipment grants and driving the recent planning and construction of our brand-new fire station.

Bridget’s commitment to our community extended far beyond her desk at Village Hall. She served for many years on both the Breckenridge Area Action Committee and the Breckenridge Community Schools Board of Education. Her profound dedication did not go unnoticed; she was named the 2021 Clerk of the Year by the Michigan Rural Water Association and recently received the prestigious Breckenridge Distinguished Service Award.

Bridget’s legacy of excellence has left an indelible, positive mark on our hometown. On behalf of the entire Village of Breckenridge, we extend our deepest gratitude to Bridget for her 17 years of tireless hard work, and we wish her the absolute best as she begins this exciting next journey!
