Indiana State Police Bremen Post Holds Annual Memorial Service

Bremen Post- An inscription on the memorial stone in front of the Indiana State Police Bremen Post reads, “We Will Remember Them”. Today that promise was kept when local law enforcement officers, retired state police employees, local government officials, and family members of the fallen joined employees from the Indiana State Police Bremen Post as they paid tribute to the 49 Indiana State Police employees who have died in the line of duty since the department’s inception in 1933.

Since the early days of the Indiana State Police, memorial services have been held at each Indiana State Police Post during the month of May. The memorial services are a way of paying tribute and remembering the ultimate sacrifice paid by state police employees who died while serving and protecting the citizens and visitors of Indiana. The services are also for the family members of the fallen heroes. The memorial services let the families of the fallen know that the sacrifice made by them, and their departed loved ones will never be forgotten.

Today’s service started with troopers standing at attention as Indiana State Police Area II Captain Chad Larsh read the names of the fallen employees. Lieutenant Tony Slocum, District Commander of the Indiana State Police Bremen Post, provided a brief description of what led to the fallen employees’ final call. The solemn ceremony ended with the playing of Taps by a bugler.

Two Indiana State Troopers from the Bremen Post have died in the line of duty:

Master Motor Carrier Inspector Ralph R. Reed Jr. died on August 3, 1995, while working along US 30 in Marshall County. While completing an inspection on a semi driver, Master Motor Carrier Inspector Reed walked around the tractor trailer and was struck and killed by an oncoming semi.

Trooper Jason E. Beal died on January 15, 2000, in southeastern Kosciusko County while assisting a tow truck operator that was pulling a car out of a ditch on State Road 14. As the two men worked the driver of a passing car lost control of her car on the icy roadway, striking the tow truck and the Trooper Beal. He died from his injuries three days later.

Pierceton Man Arrested for Possession of S*x Abuse Material Following Indiana State Police Investigation

Pierceton, IN- On May 12, 2026, detectives with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) arrested a Pierceton man on alleged charges of possession of child sexual abuse material and possession of drugs.

This investigation began when a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip ultimately led to a search warrant being served on a residence in rural Pierceton.

As a result of the investigation, Claude Mullins, 63 of Pierceton, IN, was arrested and transported to the Kosciusko County Jail for:
Possession of Child Po*******hy, Level 5 Felony
Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony
Possession of Ma*****na, Class B-Misdemeanor
Possession of Paraphernalia, Class A-Misdemeanor

The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office and the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.

The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a multiagency task force led by the Indiana State Police. The task force serves to conduct investigations into reports of child sexual exploitation, enticement by predators, and the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM); apprehend and prosecute offenders; and educate the public on how to prevent online child victimization. Each year, Indiana ICAC investigators from around the state evaluate thousands of tips, investigate hundreds of cases, and rescue dozens of children from ongoing sexual abuse.

The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The NCMEC website can be accessed through the ICAC Task Force website. To report a crime with your child as a victim involving the Internet or other electronic means, please contact your local Indiana law enforcement agency. Last evening Trooper Streeter stopped this Subaru for driving 105 miles per hour on the Indiana Toll Road. The driver also had a suspended driver’s license.

This morning Trooper Hart stopped this Corvette for driving 103 miles per hour on US31 in Marshall County.

In case people weren’t aware, we are out there…Slow down, drive safe, and buckle up!

Speed limit. According to Merriam Webster is defined as: the maximum or minimum speed permitted by law in a given area under specified circumstances.

On the Indiana Toll Road the speed limit is 70 miles per hour.

Tonight Trooper Santoyo stopped this driver with a heavy right foot for driving 103 miles per hour on the Indiana Toll Road in Elkhart County.

That’s fast. Too fast. That is covering 151 feet per second; a football field every 2 seconds.

Slow down, drive safe, and buckle up.
