As the weather is getting warmer and Summer is starting we would like to share some important safety tips to keep you and your family safe.

πŸ’§ Beat the Heat
βœ… Drink plenty of water throughout the day
βœ… Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning
βœ… Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
βœ… Use sunscreen and reapply often
βœ… Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle
βœ… Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

🏊 Pool & Water Safety
βœ… Always supervise children around water β€” even if they know how to swim
βœ… Never swim alone
βœ… Keep a phone nearby in case of an emergency
βœ… Use life jackets when appropriate
βœ… Secure pools with proper fencing and self-latching gates

🚴 Bicycle Safety
βœ… Always wear a properly fitted helmet
βœ… Follow traffic laws and obey traffic signals
βœ… Ride with the flow of traffic and stay alert
βœ… Wear bright or reflective clothing to increase visibility
βœ… Check your brakes, tires, and chain before every ride
βœ… Watch for vehicles backing out of driveways and opening car doors

πŸ‘· Working in the Heat
βœ… Stay hydrated before, during, and after work
βœ… Take regular breaks in shaded or cool areas
βœ… Wear light-colored, breathable clothing when possible
βœ… Pace yourself and avoid overexertion during the hottest part of the day
βœ… Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, and weakness
βœ… Look out for your coworkers and don't hesitate to seek medical help if someone shows signs of heat stroke

Heat-related illnesses, water emergencies, and bicycle accidents can happen in seconds. Taking a few simple precautions can help keep you and your loved ones safe all summer long.

Have fun, stay cool, stay active, and make safety your top priority this summer! πŸŒžπŸ’§πŸŠπŸš΄πŸ‘·πŸš‘

This week, we proudly recognize and thank the incredible Dispatchers at the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office

They are the calm reassuring voice on the other end of the line when every second counts. Day and night, they answer the call, providing critical support, gathering life-saving information, and dispatching help when it’s needed most.

Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion does not go unnoticed.

To the Dispatchers at the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office thank you for everything you do for our community and the entire county.
