General information

The Bremerton/Kitsap County office of Lutheran Community Services offers the following programs: [1] Home Care Program (formerly HomeHelpers HomeCare) provides quality in-home assistance with non-medical personal care, companionship, respite care and light housekeeping services. A program supervisor completes a personal needs assessment, develops a care plan, and assists with public funding qualifications. Trained and compassionate staff members who are available for hourly and live-in services. [2] Parent Line (Port Angeles) offers Play and Learn groups, parenting classes, supervised visitations, and also operates a Family Support Center program out of the Mount Angeles View Public Housing. [3] The Respite Care program provides respite for Navy families with special needs children, plus childcare provider training and support. [4] Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) places volunteers 55 years and older in meaningful volunteer assignments, by partnering them to activities that fit their skills and interests. In serving non-profit, private and public community organizations, RSVP volunteers become part of the solution by staying active and making a difference in the lives of others. [5] Senior Companion Program is a grant sponsored volunteer program which matches low income elderly and disabled seniors in Kitsap County, to senior volunteers, who provide transportation, companionship and respite care. [6] Support U™ partners with faith communities, agencies and businesses to make life better for caregivers by reducing caregiver burnout and those who try to do it all alone. Practical care giving information is presented in accessible short classes, such as: “Dementia, Chronic Illness & The Family,” “Family Dynamics & Communication,” and “Self Care For the Caregiver.”
