FLCPS CHANGE OF COMMAND:
Capt. William “Bill” Barich relinquished command of Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Puget Sound to Capt. Taquina “Ty” Luster in a change of command ceremony at the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, Washington August 14.

“The FLC team is the best in the NAVSUP enterprise. They are a group driven by diverse talents, extreme dedication, and synergy. We have passed every inspection, every audit, and have driven policy with our headquarters. We have expanded on our services to support not only Region but our operational units,” said Barich. “This Command has hit above its weight class time and time again.”

SEAFAIR SUPPORT: NAVSUP FLCPS Logistics Support Representatives (LSRs) were on the pier to meet USS Cincinnati (LCS 20) when the ship pulled into Seattle last week to participate in the city’s Seafair Fleet Week.

Along with seeing to any urgent requirements for parts, supplies, or provisions, or working out any last-minute issues with contracting services, our LSR team took advantage of the port visit to provide a “teaching moment” for Sailors working on their LSR qualifications. The Sailors accompanied the assigned LSR on his rounds to supply department and food service spaces on the Independence-variant littoral combat ship to observe what LSR pierside support entails. After business was wrapped up, Cincinnati’s crew gave the group a special tour of the ship.

Fully qualified LSRs can operate independently, traveling to civilian ports to coordinate logistics support services to Navy ships where military infrastructure is not available.

The NAVSUP FLCPS Logistics Support Center provides pierside support services throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Canada during operational port visits as well as for outreach events such as Seattle Seafair.

Seattle Seafair Fleet Week is a time-honored celebration of the sea services and provides an opportunity for the citizens of Washington to meet Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, and witness firsthand the latest capabilities of maritime services.

U.S. Coast Guard Legend-class national security cutter USCGC Stratton (WMSL 752) also participated in the Fleet Week event.

EXPEDITING TRAINING: The FLCPS Logistics Support Office team recently went aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in Bremerton to teach a special class for the ship's supply personnel. Course topics included the art of material expediting, and an in-depth breakdown of how fleet supply chains work to maintain the flow of critical parts & supplies to deployed ships. THANK YOU: We are proud to report that the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) Blood Drive at our SSP Supply Support facility at Naval Base Kitsap - Bangor yesterday was another success! The Armed Services Blood Bank Center - Pacific Northwest team collected 41 units of blood which will be used to support operational deployments and military medical facilities around the world. Thanks to Trident Refit Facility Bangor, Strategic Weapons Facility, Pacific (SWFPAC), the FLCPS Code 502 team, and all the donors who took time away from their jobs supporting the fleet to offer their support to warfighters in a whole different way--by giving the gift of life.

BLOOD DRIVE: FLCPS is once again partnering with Strategic Weapons Facility, Pacific (SWFPAC), Trident Refit Facility Bangor, and Armed Services Blood Bank Center - Pacific Northwest to host an Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) blood drive at our SSP Supply Support facility at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor on Wednesday, June 17. All blood types are needed. Make a donation, enjoy a famous "Donor Dog," and bring a friend. Open to anyone with lower base access. Donations are used to support deployed forces and military medical facilities worldwide.
