Traffic has finally reopened on Highway 6 heading North between Bremond and Calvert. Bremond toned out to a major three-vehicle crash. It all started when a driver exiting the Hammond store accidentally drove into the northbound lane whilst trying to travel south, leading to a devastating collision. Remarkably, all occupants survived the brutal impact, and one was transported to the hospital for precautionary evaluation. It’s clear that angels were watching over them tonight. Thank you Calvert Volunteer Fire Department for your quick response and assistance.

Big news for a small town: a herd of cattle caused quite a stir in Bremond today around 5:45am. When an 18-wheeler suddenly slammed on its brakes to avoid striking the runaway cows, several were unfortunately hit and killed. The community quickly rallied, using their vehicles to help herd the remaining cattle through town . One here, one there, in a backyard, one in a residential garden, one on the railroad tracks. It was a chaotic scene, but amid the sadness of the losses and the accident, there was a heartwarming sight: local cowboys and cowgirls coming together to safely guide the rest of the herd home on a cattle drive through the heart of town!

🚧ROBERTSON COUNTY 🚧

TxDOT will temporarily close FM 2293 between Joe Peach Road and West Sammy’s Road beginning Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in Robertson County.

This closure is needed so crews can install two drainage crossings as part of an ongoing project. The road is expected to be close for about four days. During this time, drivers will be directed to a signed detour around the work zone. Knife River Corporation – South is the contractor on the project.

Drivers should plan for extra travel time or choose an alternate route if possible.

Brazos county health department is at the Bremond Fire Department doing free cancer screenings. They’ll be here until 3pm today.

Bremond responded to a car fire on Fm 2159 around 10pm. The driver noticed fire from the floor boards so they parked the car and jumped out to dial 911. By the time the fire dept arrived the car was fully involved. Luckily, the grass was still wet and to our amazement no pasture fires were started 🤠 So sorry for the owner of the vehicle but we feel blessed that the fire didn’t spread and that nobody was injured.

Two vehicle rollovers occurred between Bremond and Calvert last night. All patients are expected to recover, thanks to our first responders for their quick response. Check your tires! One blowout can change your life forever.
