As this week is National Police Week, we wanted to take a moment to recognize and thank the men and women of our local law enforcement agencies for their service, sacrifice, and dedication to keeping our communities safe.

From the deputies and officers on the streets to the investigators, administration, and support staff behind the scenes; your commitment does not go unnoticed! We are so very grateful for the partnerships we share and for the work you do every day, often under difficult and demanding circumstances.

From all of us at WC911, thank you for your professionalism, courage, and unwavering service to our community. We appreciate all that you do — not just this week, but every day!💙

We are asking our local livestock owners to please complete a WC911 Livestock Registration form to help us better protect your animals, your property, motorists, and our community during emergencies.

This process is about safety and getting the right information to the right people as quickly as possible when time matters.

When livestock are loose due to storms, damaged fencing, accidents, or other unexpected situations, first responders often spend valuable time trying to figure out who owns the animals and who currently leases the property. Updated registration information helps us contact the correct person quickly — not someone who sold their livestock or no longer leases that pasture from years ago.

Having accurate information can help:
🔹 Get your livestock home faster
🔹 Reduce stress on owners and responders
🔹 Prevent roadway hazards and accidents
🔹 Improve emergency response during storms, fires, or disasters
🔹 Protect your animals and surrounding property

This information is used for emergency and public safety purposes only and helps us respond more efficiently when incidents occur.

If you own cattle, horses, goats, sheep, or other livestock within Washington County, we encourage you to complete the registration form and keep your information updated.

Working together helps us keep both the community and your livestock safer. 💛

Please register your livestock with Washington County 911 dispatch so we can keep our records up to date, contact the appropriate person when needed, and better monitor and protect your property. If you have livestock on multiple properties or lease additional pastures — please complete a separate...

To our partner agencies who took the time to drop off snacks, meals, and treats during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week — thank you. Not just for the food (although our team definitely appreciated that 😊), but for the thought behind it!

It’s easy to get caught up in the pace of this profession; the radio traffic, back-to-back calls, long shifts — but your visits, your check-ins, and those few moments of connection meant more than you probably realized. It gave our TCOs a chance to feel seen by the very people they support every single day.

We may work on different sides of the radio, but we’re one team!

From all of us at Washington County 911 — thank you for showing up for us, for thinking of us, and for being the kind of partners we can always count on. We’re proud to work alongside you, every shift, every call. 💛

National County Government Month – 911 Dispatch (Telecommunicators)

Today, we are proud to highlight the dedicated professionals who serve as the critical link between our community and emergency responders — our Washington County Telecommunicators.

Today marks the start of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW), observed April 12–18, 2026. Celebrated annually during the second full week of April, this special week honors the “unseen heroes” of public safety — 911 dispatchers, call-takers, and radio operators — who provide critical, life-saving support during emergencies.

Led by Interim Director Raleigh Wellmann, our Telecommunicators (TCOs) are the calm voices on the other end of the line during moments of crisis. Their professionalism, composure, and quick decision-making help ensure that emergency services are dispatched swiftly and effectively when every second counts.

What do our Telecommunicators do?
✔️ Receive and process 911 emergency and non-emergency calls
✔️ Dispatch law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other public safety partners
✔️ Provide life-saving pre-arrival instructions to callers in distress
✔️ Monitor multiple radio channels, phone lines, and computer systems simultaneously
✔️ Prioritize and coordinate emergency responses
✔️ Maintain accurate and detailed records
✔️ Provide assistance to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Our Telecommunicators remain ready to serve at all times — days, nights, weekends, and holidays — ensuring that help is always just a phone call away.

Today, and throughout the week, we extend our sincere gratitude to our Telecommunicators for their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the safety of Washington County.

Stay tuned as we continue highlighting the departments and people who keep Washington County running!

REMINDER: We will be conducting the Emergency Notification System Test tomorrow!

⚠️ Public Notice: Emergency Notification System Test ⚠️

We will be conducting a test of the Emergency Notification System on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. for the citizens within Washington County.

This test is part of a statewide drill led by the Texas Division of Emergency Management to help confirm system functionality, prepare communities to receive emergency messages, and encourage individuals and families to consider making a plan for disasters before an actual emergency occurs.

During this time, you may receive alerts through various channels, including text messages, phone calls, and/or emails. You may be asked to confirm receipt of the message - confirmation helps ensure the system is working properly.

This is only a test - no action is required beyond any requested confirmation.

Thank you for your cooperation!
