Just a few pics taken from Krause Elementary School's Washington County First Responder 3rd Grade Career Day. Glad the weather could hold off, and give the kids an opportunity to meet and greet our county's finest and also gain a little knowledge about each job. Would like to acknowledge to these agencies for all assisting in the program for the kids, which are the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Warden, and Washington County EMS. Also, a special thanks goes out to HEB - Brenham for donating popsicles and our very own, Sgt. Belman for donating Pizza for all the 3rd grade classes.

SCAM ALERT!!!

Another scam is making its way around Washington County and to its community. The Washington County Sheriff's Office would like to bring a recent and on-going scam to the public's attention. It has come to our attention that family members of incarcerated inmates are receiving phone calls from unknown person/s who are impersonating Washington County employees. The scammers are attempting to solicit money from individuals, telling them that if they pay a bond amount over the phone or through other means the family member will be released.

Once again, the Washington County Sheriff's Office or it's employees will never call you in regard to payment of money. If someone you know is incarcerated the Washington County Sheriff's Office will not contact you. If you want to have someone bonded out you will need to contact a local approved bonding agency. All of this information can and should be verified in person at the Washington Couty Jail.

SCAM ALERT!!!

The Washington County Sheriff's Office has recently been alerted to an on-going scam within our community. Several Washington County residents have reported that they have received a call from 979-353-1490 advising that they missed Grand Jury, and should go to a local convenience store to send money, or meet them at an undisclosed location in reference to this.

If you receive a call, email or text with anything resembling this...do not respond to the caller's demands. Washington County will not ever call or ask for money or fines for missing any type of court. If you have any questions, you can call The Washington County Sheriff's Office at the number listed on our website.

Presentation of Life-Saving Awards ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Yesterday at Commissioners Court, Sheriff Holleway proudly presented Life-Saving Awards to five outstanding members of the Washington County Sheriffโ€™s Office in recognition of their heroic actions on December 8, 2025.

๐Ÿ… Corporal Robert McAnally
๐Ÿ… Deputy Matthew Brown
๐Ÿ… Deputy Carson Holton
๐Ÿ… Sergeant Eddie Martinez
๐Ÿ… Lieutenant Jesus Montes

On that day, these officers responded to a critical and volatile situation involving multiple gunshot victims. With unwavering dedication and extraordinary courage, they advanced into a dangerous scene to secure the suspect, ensuring the safety of the victims and fellow officers.

Deputy Holton was first on scene and quickly assessed the dire circumstances, locating two victims suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Working together, the responding officers detained the suspect and immediately began life-saving measures, applying tourniquets and utilizing hemorrhage control techniques to stop severe bleeding. They continued providing critical care until EMS arrived and assisted with transporting the victims by helicopter to a trauma center for further treatment.

Their swift, decisive actions in a high-stress environment exemplify the highest standards of the peace officer profession. Because of their bravery, professionalism, and commitment to protecting others, lives were saved.

Washington County is incredibly proud of these officers and grateful for their service to our community.

Please join us in congratulating them on this well-deserved recognition. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™
