🔥 GRASS FIRE 🔥

At approximately 6:54 PM, Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 4600 block of Meyer Ln for a reported grass fire.

Upon arrival, crews found that a tree had fallen onto a power line, causing the surrounding grass to catch fire. Due to the downed power line, firefighters remained at a safe distance until Bluebonnet Electric arrived and confirmed that power to the line had been disabled.

Once the scene was confirmed safe, crews extinguished the grass fire and checked the surrounding area for any remaining hot spots.

We appreciate Bluebonnet Electric for their quick response and assistance in making the scene safe for our crews.

🚨 EMERGENCY BURN BAN – WASHINGTON COUNTY 🚨

Due to hot and dry conditions and the increased threat of wildfire, Washington County Judge John Durrenberger has issued an Emergency Burn Ban for Washington County.

🔥 Effective: Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. (midnight)

Please help us protect our community and first responders by following the burn ban and using extra caution during these dry conditions.

🚨 Busy Day for Meyersville VFD 🚨

Meyersville VFD crews were called to assist with two separate aircraft emergencies at Brenham Municipal Airport and two grass fires.

The first incident at 7:31 AM involved a single fixed wing aircraft that sustained damage. The two occupants were transported by Washington County EMS with minor injuries. Meyersville crews assisted with clearing the fence line to provide easier access for emergency personnel and equipment.

The second call of the day was to assist Chappell Hill with a grass fire on Old Chappell Hill Rd and Indian Paint Brush Rd. Crews arrived on scene to find a controlled burn that got out of control. Fire spread to a total of 1.5 acres.

Meyersville was also requested for a second aircraft emergency for a gyrocopter being the third call of the day at 1:31 PM. Our crew staged at the entrance to the airport and assisted by blocking traffic into the airport, allowing emergency crews to safely operate and respond to the incident.

The fourth call was assist Brenham FD to locate the source of a smoke column that was called in near Blue Bell Rd and Old Chappell Hill Rd at 3:04 PM. Crews arrived on a scene to find a burn barrel that spread to the surrounding area.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience while emergency crews work to keep the airport and surrounding areas safe.

Yesterday, Meyersville VFD responded to two calls for service.
🚒 2:02 PM – Meyersville firefighters were dispatched on mutual aid to assist Prairie Hill VFD with a grass fire on Mertins Creek Ln. Our crews worked alongside responding departments to extinguish burning hay bales and help bring the incident under control.
🚗 6:46 PM – While most of our firefighters were still assisting at the grass fire, Meyersville VFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the 1600 block of Old Navasota Rd. Captain Venables responded with Engine 8 and the Rocky Creek crew to the crash, where they remained on scene until the vehicle could be safely towed.
Thanks to the crew from Rocky Creek VFD for staffing our station to help cover the east side of Washington County while our members were committed to the mutual aid incident.
We appreciate the strong partnerships between our neighboring departments. Working together ensures our communities continue to receive prompt emergency response, even when multiple incidents happen at the same time.

Meyersville VFD is currently working a structure fire in the 1200 block of Copelyn Springs Rd. Multiple agencies are on scene. Please avoid the area if possible.

🚒 Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department Response

Yesterday at approximately 4:40 PM, Meyersville VFD responded to a single commercial vehicle crash in the area of 6500 Hwy 105.

Our crews worked alongside responding emergency personnel to ensure the scene was safe and assist as needed. We appreciate everyone who helped on the scene and remind drivers to use caution when traveling.
