Brenham Police Department Arrests Three Suspects Following Burglary at Local Business
********
BRENHAM, Texas – March 30, 2026 – On March 27, 2026, at approximately 3:51 a.m., officers with the Brenham Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Blinn College Police Department, and the Washington County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the Brookshire Brothers grocery store located at 303 N. Austin Parkway.
Upon arrival, officers observed multiple individuals attempting to flee the scene. Responding units quickly detained several suspects without incident. The preliminary investigation determined that the suspects had forcibly entered the business by cutting a lock and subsequently attempted to access an automated teller machine (ATM) inside the store. During the response, the Brenham Police Department’s K9 unit successfully located and recovered a saw believed to have been used in the commission of the offense and discarded during the suspects’ attempted escape. A search of the involved vehicles further revealed tools and equipment consistent with those commonly used in burglary offenses.
As a result of the investigation, Oshaa Banks, Marcel Oliver, and Octavias Thompson, all from Houston, were arrested and charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (First Degree Felony), Theft of Property from an ATM under $300,000 (Second Degree Felony), Unlawful Use of a Criminal Instrument (Third Degree Felony), and Burglary of a Building (State Jail Felony).
Chief Gary Boshears stated, “This incident reflects the effectiveness of strong partnerships that are maintained between law enforcement agencies in our community. The swift response and collaborative efforts in this case not only prevented further loss but disrupted organized criminal activity impacting our community. We remain committed to proactively addressing crime through strategic enforcement, collaboration, and a continued focus on public safety.”
