Stephanie and Miss LouLou closing out the day with a classic as the room sang along. Our next gathering is on April 21, 2026.

Miss LouLou came to entertain us and everyone was singing along as usual. The volunteers sitting on either side of Stephanie noted that she was harmonizing and singing along to every song so with a little encouragement, we got her to join Miss LouLou. She did an incredible job and never returned to her seat.

The lovely ladies from Harmony Hearts Homecare, Rhoda and Ginger, provided our Friends and dedicated volunteers with a wonderful lunch and brought a beautiful flower bouquet for us. We presented it to one of our Friends at the end of the day. Geneva Winklemann, a local dance instructor, led our "Move and Groove" session, effectively energizing everyone after lunch.

Our first Tuesday session kicked off with a delightful morning "Brew Crew", featuring bubbles and laughter, stimulating conversations, creative coloring, and word puzzles, all on a day without April showers.

We ended our St. Patrick’s Day session with local musician, Miss LouLou and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. She included in her playlist, “Molly Malone” and “How Much is That Doggie in the Window?” Friends and volunteers joined her to sing along. We thank her and all of our volunteers and “Buddies” who make this program possible. We are so blessed!

We were so fortunate to have Emma from the Brenham Pet Adoption Center (BPAC) bring two sweet, calm dogs for pet therapy with our Friends…all our volunteers, including me, loved it too! There were nothing but smiles and cuddles as Lady, an older Chihuahua, found her happy place in Ed’s arms. Jazzy, a six-year-old Lab mix, made the rounds and loved her treats; she would sit at your side and wait to be petted. Emma and Gertrude had a nice talk about the BPAC Program and their sweet animals. Both of these precious dogs are currently available for adoption at BPAC. On a side note, I’m proud to say that our Executive Director, Janet Crane, was on the committee to help make the new BPAC a reality. Thanks to our newest volunteer, Emma and all of our dedicated volunteers.

Thanks so much to Tara Royer Steele from All Things Acres and Royer’s Pie Haven for providing an outstanding lunch for us on this St. Patrick’s Day. Tara’s new book, “Keep Your Fork, There’s Pie,” is out, so look for it to add to your library. My younger brother, Trey, loved pie so much that I can remember him sitting down at his kitchen table with a fork and eating a pecan pie right out of the pan. He didn’t eat it all, but he made a pretty good dent in it! 😂

Our "Move & Groove" portion of the program on March 17th was provided by the amazing Lete Philips. She is a local exercise guru who formerly owned her own exercise studio and now teaches classes twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 1:00 pm at the Senior Center in Brenham. Lete not only gets folks moving, but she also explains why each gentle movement is important for fall prevention and maintaining a healthy body. She did a fabulous job motivating our Friends and their Buddies. We thank her and look forward to having her with us again soon.
