As part of an Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) request from Texas, 4 BFR personnel will be heading to Palo Pinto County Texas to provide backfill and relief to crews providing structural fire protection from the Ross Fire.

BFR personnel assembled with resources from Franklin FD, Columbia FD, Murfreesboro FD, Knoxville FD and Madison County FD and hit the road to Texas early this morning where they will be deployed for up to two weeks.

Several of our members, along with officers from Brentwood PD, just wrapped up our two-day TECC (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care) class held at fire station 4. The outcome is a more confident and cohesive response to active shooter mass casualty incidents. We’re grateful for the relationship we have with our partners in the police department.

We would also like to highlight that this class is entirely taught in-house by a cadre of our own members. These instructors were joined by 3 more of our own becoming certified instructors as well. We’re proud of the work they do and for the knowledge they pass on to those around them.

The annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive will be on Friday, September 11, from 6am-6pm at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library. This year's drive will be in honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Blood donors are silent heroes. Come out and support the badges while providing needed blood donations to the Red Cross!

We at the City of Brentwood are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dolly Parton – a Country Music Icon, dedicated philanthropist, and longtime Brentwood resident.

We’re proud she chose to live in our community for many years, and loved stories of her doing her own shopping "incognito" — people swear you would never recognize her off-stage.

As someone who inspired millions around the world with her music and her giving heart, she was a blessing to our community. For example, Ms. Dolly’s Imagination Library has provided more than 270 million books to children around the world.

Her legacy extends far beyond the stage. She leaves an enduring example of compassion, service, and generosity that will continue to inspire people for years to come. She will be deeply missed by the Brentwood community and by admirers around the world.

This week BFR began its strategic planning process! This process is competed every 5 years and helps the department deliver better service by using feedback from citizens as well as internal analysis by department personnel. This process will result in strategic value in the form of goals and objectives directed towards continuous improvement.

We’re proud to have so many of our members investing their time, experience, and ideas into making our department better for the sake of those we serve.

Congratulations to our own Chief Collins on his election to the Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association Board of Directors! Chief Collins will be one of three Tennessee Fire Chiefs to represent the Middle Tennessee Region for a two year term. He was sworn in at the annual Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association Conference in Murfreesboro earlier this week. Way to go Chief!

CPSC Warns Consumers to Stop Using Houswise Tabletop Fire Pits Immediately Due to Risk of Serious Burn Injury or Death from Flame Jetting and Fire Hazards.

CPSC is aware of more than two dozen reports of flame-jetting, fuel leaking outside of the fire pit, and unexpectedly high flames, resulting in seven injuries, including third-degree burns.

• 48/96 work schedule
• Starting salary:
• $57,738 – Certified (FFII, EMT-B)
• $62,391 – Certified with Experience (FFII, EMT-B, 2 years paid structural firefighter)
• +$3,000/yr AEMT; +$6,500/yr Paramedic
• Educational pay incentive available
• 5% salary increase after 12 month probation
• Eligible for driver promotion at 3 years
• TCRS retirement
• Transportation allowance, dental, vision, and more

Minimum Requirements:
• 21+ years old
• 60 college credits OR 30+ college credits with 2 years as a paid structural firefighter
• Firefighter II (IFSAC/ProBoard)
• EMT-B (TN/NREMT)

Preferred:
• Paramedic (TN/NREMT)
