🚲 Are You Missing a Bicycle? 🚲

The Brevard Police Department has recovered several bicycles, and we wheelie want to reunite these bikes with their owners!

If you think one may belong to you, please call 828-883-2212, ext. 5637.

To claim a bicycle, you’ll need to:

🔹 Provide a detailed description of the lost or stolen bike.
🔹 Bring proof of ownership, such as a purchase receipt or a photo of yourself with the bike.

Help us put the brakes on these bikes being away from home!

🚔 BOOZE IT & LOSE IT 🚔

The Brevard Police Department is joining with law enforcement agencies across North Carolina for the Governor’s Highway Safety Program’s Labor Day “Booze It & Lose It” campaign, running August 31 through September 13.

As you celebrate Labor Day, please plan ahead:

🔹 Choose a designated SOBER driver
🔹 Use a rideshare service or taxi
🔹 Call a SOBER friend or family member to pick you up
🔹 Never, ever get behind the wheel impaired

Our officers will be working to keep Brevard’s roads safe.

Impaired-driving crashes are preventable, and one poor decision can change lives forever.

Celebrate responsibly, buckle up, and help everyone make it home safely.

Last week, we had the opportunity to come together as a BPD family and recognize several of our officers as they stepped into new leadership roles.

Congratulations to Deputy Chief Alan Bonanno, Lieutenant Jackson Reeves, and Sergeants Chris Brittain, Jordan Ryan, Aaron Foster, Mark Norton, and Tanner Green.

A promotion is more than a new rank or badge. It reflects years of work, growth, responsibility, and a commitment to serving others. Each of these men and women brings something different to our department, and we are grateful for the leadership they provide every day.

Having their families and loved ones there to share in the ceremony made the evening even more special. Their support is such an important part of this profession and of every milestone along the way.

Congratulations to each of our newly promoted leaders. We are excited for what is ahead for them and for BPD. 💙

📚💙 Back to School Safety Reminder 🚸

As our students head back to school, we’re asking everyone to help us keep them safe.

Drivers, please slow down in school zones, stay alert, stay off your phone, and watch closely for students in and around crosswalks.

Parents, please take a minute to remind your children to use designated crosswalks, look both ways, and when a crossing attendant is present, wait until they are directed to cross. Even when traffic appears to be stopped, the attendant may see something they don’t.

A little patience and extra attention from all of us can make a big difference. Let’s work together to make it a safe and great school year! 💙🚔

🍪💙 We had the sweetest visitors at BPD today!

Local Girl Scout Troop #10181 stopped by to bring our officers and staff some cookies and, more importantly, to say thank you to our first responders.

BPD truly appreciates them thinking of us. We also absolutely love seeing young ladies out in our community learning to lead, serve others, build confidence, and make a difference. There is something pretty special about seeing the next generation of strong, empowered young women already finding ways to give back.

Thank you, Troop #10181, for the cookies, the smiles, and for spending a little time with us today. You are always welcome at BPD! 💙🍪

Way to go Blue Ridge Community College! 👏👏

Beginning in January 2027, Blue Ridge Community College will once again offer Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET), along with additional training opportunities for current law enforcement professionals.

We are so excited to be able to partner with our hometown community college to help prepare the next generation of law enforcement officers. Thank you, Blue Ridge CC, for investing in the future of public safety and the communities we serve!

Blue Ridge Community College has received accreditation for several law enforcement training courses through the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, expanding the College’s ability to serve law enforcement agencies, officers and students across the region. Following a successful application and inspection process, the Commission’s decision on August 14 authorized Blue Ridge to add Basic Law Enforcement Training, General Instructor, and Speed Measurement Instrument courses to its commission-approved training repertoire.

“We take seriously our responsibility to provide high-quality training that meets and exceeds the rigorous standards established for law enforcement education in North Carolina,” said Chris Williams, Blue Ridge’s dean of Public Safety Training. “With valuable input and encouragement from our agency partners, we have rebuilt our program from the ground up, preparing to better serve our region with excellence, accountability, and integrity.”
