IN MEMORY OF RETIRED CAPTAIN ROBERT CRENSHAW

December 15, 1950 – September 2, 2026
29 Years of Service / City of Brewton Fire Department

The City of Brewton Fire Department mourns the passing of Retired Captain Robert Crenshaw, a dedicated firefighter, leader, and servant who gave 29 years of his life to the fire service and the citizens of Brewton.

For nearly three decades, Captain Crenshaw answered the call to serve. Through countless calls, difficult days, and moments when others needed help, he faithfully carried the responsibility and honor of wearing the uniform.

Today, we honor Captain Crenshaw not only for his years of service, but for the man behind the badge—a brother, friend, mentor, and servant to his community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, former coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Thank you, Captain Crenshaw, for 29 years of faithful service to the City of Brewton and the fire service.

Today is Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we're honoring the dedicated men and women who selflessly serve their communities.

Volunteer firefighters respond to emergencies at all hours, train year-round, and sacrifice time with their families to help others when they're needed most.

To every volunteer firefighter across the country: thank you for your courage, your commitment, and everything you do to keep your communities safe.

Tag a volunteer firefighter who deserves a shoutout. ❤️🚒

Governor Kay Ivey has issued a flag-lowering directive in honor of U.S. Wildland Fire Service Firefighter Sydney Kathryne Watson of Corner, Alabama.

Watson dedicated her career to protecting our nation’s forests and natural resources through wildland fire management. She tragically lost her life alongside two fellow firefighters while battling the Knowles Fire in Western Colorado on June 27, 2026.

Flags on the grounds of the State Capitol Complex in Montgomery and statewide should be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the date of Watson’s interment.
