The Briarcliff Schools are committed to the philosophy of helping each child develop into a mature individual who will be a contributing member of society. The school shares the responsibility with parents and the community for meeting the needs of the whole child -- intellectual, physical, civic, moral, and aesthetic. The school, however, has a primary responsibility for the intellectual developm

ent of the child -- the acquisition of the tools and habits of learning and the assimilation of a basic body of skills and knowledge. While certain aspects of learning require memorization of facts, the school must also encourage creative and independent thinking. Each child has different gifts and learning styles, and develops at different rates. Therefore, insofar as possible, the school must try to meet the individual needs of each child by offering alternative methods of learning, options in course selection, and a broad range of educational programs for students with different life goals. However, within each grade or subject level there must be minimum measurable standards of achievement.

đź“š A new chapter begins in Briarcliff!

Sixteen new teachers were welcomed to Briarcliff Schools during New Teacher Orientation, a day designed to introduce them to a community centered on relationships, professional growth, collaboration, and a shared commitment to students.

For seventh-grade social studies teacher Zach Rose, the day marked the culmination of a years-long journey in Briarcliff as a coach, teaching assistant, and leave-replacement teacher.

“It felt like the first day of the rest of my life,” he said.

There was unmistakable warmth in the room, and plenty of bear hugs, as Briarcliff faculty and staff came together for the first time in the 2026–27 school year, reconnecting with colleagues and welcoming new members of our school community.

Dr. James Kaishian opened Convocation by revisiting the story of Briarcliff Schools and reminding us that the stories that matter are worth telling again. His message was especially fitting as we begin a new chapter together, guided by this year’s theme: Joy is the Strategy.

The morning also gave us an opportunity to celebrate the people who make Briarcliff such a special place. Congratulations to our newly tenured educators, our colleagues marking 25 years of service, and Karla Constantinou, Briarcliff’s 2025–26 Teacher of the Year.

As Ms. Constantinou shared, “Teaching itself is a family. We celebrate together, we grieve together, we support one another, and every September we begin again with renewed hope.”

And so it begins. 📸

Senior Portrait Day marked one of the first of the lasts for Briarcliff’s Class of 2027.

“It’s our last year together before we all go our separate ways,” said senior Kaylin Wong. “That’s something to look forward to, but also something that’s going to be hard to let go of.”

Throughout the year, we’ll be capturing more of the firsts, lasts and everything in between that make up this final chapter for the Class of 2027.

There were smiles, tears, hugs, high fives, fist bumps, and even a few last-minute yearbook signings as the Todd community came together today to celebrate the end of another memorable school year.

As we head into summer, we're grateful for the friendships, achievements and moments that made this year so special.

And that’s a wrap, Briarcliff! 🎉

Today, BMS students said their final goodbyes to teachers and classmates before heading off for a well-deserved summer break. With smiles on their faces and excitement for the adventures ahead, they eagerly boarded the buses, ready to make the most of summer.

While we’ll miss the energy that fills our hallways, we know our students will return in the fall ready to learn, explore and create new memories. We also send our best wishes to our eighth-graders as they take the next big step to BHS. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish! And we look forward to welcoming our rising sixth-graders to the BMS family.
