Pay attention to buoys and markers while boating. Many times, accidents can be prevented if you know and obey all buoys and markers.

A local marina called Coast Guard Station Philadelphia last night to report a stolen vessel. Station crew quickly responded, arrived on scene, detained the suspect, and located a firearm on board.

The suspect was held until Philadelphia Police Department arrived and took custody. The Coast Guard Station’s boat crew safely towed the stolen vessel back to the marina.

“I want to highlight the excellent work that the boarding team did while getting on the vessel and deescalating the situation,” said Capt. Kate Higgins-Bloom, commanding officer of Sector Delaware Bay.

The Coast Guard’s Maritime Law Enforcement mission protects America's maritime borders, defends the Nation's maritime sovereignty, facilitates legitimate use of the waterways, and suppresses violations of U.S. Federal law on, under, and over the seas ⚓️🌊
