Your service is an essential part of our emergency response system. From structure fires and vehicle accidents to medical emergencies, rescues, and countless other calls, you stand ready to respond alongside our law enforcement, EMS, and dispatchers.

Yesterday we said goodbye to one of our own as Colson Walker officially closed this chapter with Lawrence County E911 Dispatch.

Colson, it has truly been a pleasure having you as part of our dispatch family. Your dedication, hard work, humor, and the way you served our community will not be forgotten. From the long shifts and busy calls to the laughs in between, you have left your mark on all of us. 📻💛

While we’re definitely going to miss seeing you walk through those doors, we are incredibly proud of you and excited to see where life takes you next. This may be goodbye to dispatch, but it’s certainly not goodbye to the friendships and memories made along the way.

Thank you for everything, Colson. We wish you nothing but success, happiness, and great things in this next chapter of your life!

Scattered thunderstorms are expected, with the potential for heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, localized damaging wind gusts, and flooding in areas that receive repeated heavy rain.

⚠️ PLEASE REMEMBER:
• Never drive through flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
• Bring loose outdoor items inside.
• Keep phones charged and weather alerts turned on.
• If thunder is heard, go indoors.
• Stay away from downed power lines and report them to the proper authorities.
• If a warning is issued for your area, take it seriously and seek shelter immediately.

Tonight, the Christy Fire Association had the privilege of presenting The Sign of the Kingdom a $500 check.

Being community-minded is a core value at our firehouse, and tonight was a great example of putting that value into action. We’re proud to support other community organizations.

While the Christy Fire Association is made up of members of Christy Fire, the CFA is a separate entity from the Christy Fire Protection District.

We’re proud to be part of a community that continues to look out for one another. 🚒❤️

🌠 LOOK UP, LAWRENCE COUNTY! 🌠

The Perseid Meteor Shower is putting on a show, and it will be visible right here across Lawrence County, Illinois! ✨

☄️ Wednesday night roughly at 10pm into Thursday morning is a great time to head outside and look toward the night sky. Under clear, dark skies, you may see dozens of shooting stars each hour!

🌌 FOR THE BEST VIEWING:
• Find a dark area away from city lights
• Give your eyes 20–30 minutes to adjust
• Bring a lawn chair or blanket and get comfortable
• Use a red flashlight if you need light
• Keep your phone brightness low
• Look toward the northeastern sky
• No telescope is needed—just look up! 👀✨

🚨 A FEW SAFETY REMINDERS 🚨

✅ DO:
• Park completely off the roadway if you’re stopping to watch
• Choose a safe, legal location away from traffic
• Keep children and pets supervised
• Stay aware of your surroundings
• Bring bug spray and a jacket if needed

❌ DON’T:
• 🚫 Stop or park in the roadway or somewhere that creates a traffic hazard
• 🚫 Watch the sky while driving—pull over somewhere safe first
• 🚫 Wander onto private property without permission
• 🚫 Shine bright lights into other people’s viewing areas
