Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality.

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is a time to honor the strength and contributions of generations past, reflect on our shared history, and recommit ourselves to building a more inclusive and equitable future.

At Mozaic Senior Life, we recognize the importance of honoring diverse experiences, preserving stories, and fostering a community where every individual is valued and respected.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚

❤️ A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the Mozaic blood drive yesterday! Every donation makes a meaningful difference—each whole blood donation can help up to three individuals, while Power Red donations can support an even greater number of people, including newborns, trauma and surgery patients, and those living with sickle cell disease or anemia. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our collective efforts may have helped—possibly even saved—the lives of more than 120 people.

Together, we are strengthening our community one donation at a time. Thank you for sharing the gift of life. ❤️🩸

Today we gather to recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and acknowledge that safety, dignity, and independence in aging are not achieved alone—they are built through community.

Too often, elder abuse is viewed as the result of individual circumstances or choices. In reality, aging safely requires strong support systems, compassionate caregivers, effective laws, accessible resources, and communities that value and protect older adults.

One of the greatest barriers to ending elder abuse is ageism. When we stop seeing the person behind the age, when we diminish their voice, needs, or worth, we create conditions where abuse can persist. Respect, dignity, and inclusion must be at the heart of how we care for and support older adults.

Today, we also honor the family and professional caregivers whose dedication helps older adults thrive. By investing in the well-being of both caregivers and those they support, we create a stronger, safer future for all.

Together, we can build communities where every older adult is valued, respected, and protected.

This Flag Day holds special meaning as our nation begins celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

For nearly two and a half centuries, the American flag has stood as a symbol of freedom, resilience, and unity. At Mozaic Senior Life, we are especially grateful for the generations of older adults whose lives, service, and contributions have helped shape our country's story.

Today, we honor the flag and the individuals who have carried its ideals forward—through times of challenge, growth, and progress. Their experiences remind us that history is not only something we remember, but something we continue to build together.

Happy Flag Day!

The Mozaic Center for Elder Abuse Prevention opened in September 2007 to empower victims through safe haven and services, and champion safer communities for older adults. The Center’s activities are made possible with the help of community partners such as Near and Fair Aid.

Near and Far Aid is an all-volunteer organization that makes a positive impact on thousands of people in Fairfield County by granting over $1 million a year to well-vetted local agencies targeting poverty and changing lives.
