We, the members of the Bridgeport Fire Department, are dedicated to serve the people of the City of Bridgeport. We will safely provide the highest level of professional response to fire, medical, environmental emergencies and disasters, either natural or man-made. We will create a safer community through our extensive participation in Fire Prevention, Code Enforcement and Education for the public

and department members. Our goal is to provide twenty-four (24) hour emergency service for the protection of life and property within a four (4) minute response time frame. Per State of CT Statute: All comments on social media are “Public Record” and are to be archived by government agencies as such.

This morning, Fire Chief Edwards and Police Chief Porter joined Melissa on WICC to talk all things summer safety — from grilling and fireworks to water safety and sharing the road responsibly.

As summer gets underway, a few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe:
🔥 Never leave grills unattended
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals
🌊 Keep a close eye on children near water
🛴 Ride scooters and mopeds safely, wear a helmet, and follow traffic laws
🚗 Stay alert and slow down on busy summer roads

Yesterday, The Bridgeport Fire Department along with the BPD and AMR participated in a mock extrication for the juniors and seniors of the Fairchild Wheeler Magnet School. The students were able to witness the members at work on a simulated extrication call and the consequences of driving while under the influence and being distracted.
