Today, we’re celebrating Krystal Smith, Marketing & BR&E, and her one-year anniversary with the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation!

While Krystal has served the City of Bridgeport since 2017, this past year with BEDC has allowed her to combine her love for Bridgeport with her passion for marketing, branding, tourism, business engagement, and economic development.

“What I enjoy most is having the opportunity to creatively tell Bridgeport’s story—showcasing what makes our community special to visitors, businesses, and potential investors.”

A highlight of her first year has been working on projects with the Office of the Governor to help showcase Bridgeport and create new opportunities for the community.

For Krystal, Bridgeport is more than where she works—it’s home. After planting roots here and watching her children grow up and graduate from Bridgeport, she has developed a deep appreciation for its small-town charm, hometown hospitality, and the way our community comes together.

Looking ahead, she is most excited about the growth and opportunities ahead for Bridgeport and continuing to help tell its story.

Fun Fact: Six of Krystal’s photographs were selected for the original “Live. Shop. Play. Stay.” campaign in the early 2000s and were later featured during a Nashville Symphony Orchestra event!

Today we’re celebrating Braylee Adkins, Administrative Assistant, and her first year with the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation!

After her family purchased a home in Wise County, Braylee knew she wanted to put down roots in a welcoming community. Bridgeport quickly felt like home, and joining BEDC gave her the opportunity to become more involved while supporting the community’s growth.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Braylee’s answer was easy: her team! She is thankful to work alongside a welcoming, passionate, and supportive team that makes each day rewarding and inspires her to continue making a difference.

One of her favorite projects has been helping digitize the Bridgeport Historical Society’s archives, where she has learned about Bridgeport’s history, businesses, and community events dating back to the 1920s.

Growing up involved in 4-H and FFA taught Braylee the importance of service and giving back—something she now gets to carry into her work supporting local businesses, building partnerships, and serving a community that truly invests in its people and its future.

And a fun fact about Braylee: she was adopted from Russia! It’s a special part of her story and the journey that brought her to where she is today.

Happy One-Year Work Anniversary, Braylee! We’re thankful you’re part of Team BEDC and excited to see all the opportunities ahead!
