Sunset Heights Vol. Fire Department

On June 8th our department along with our mutual aid departments responded to a working structure fire. The fire was at the house of Rick and Khelli DeBeni both of whom belong to our department. They lost everything in the fire. We will be holding a spaghetti dinner for them on July 19th from 11:00 to 4:00 at the firehouse. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Belmont County Fire and Squad Officers Association Coordinates a annual Pump testing with Atlantic Emergency Solutions. This is a yearly test is done to make sure our 2 Engines are ready to go when needed.

Today, we honor the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to freedom changed the course of history and secured the liberties we enjoy today.

As firefighters, we understand the meaning of service, duty, and sacrifice. On this anniversary of D-Day, we pause to remember the heroes who answered the call when their nation needed them most.

We are forever grateful to the members of the Greatest Generation and all who served alongside them.

“Freedom is never free.”

Heavy rain with 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour is causing flash flooding of small creeks, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and low-lying spots. Turn around, don’t drown in flooded roads, and avoid driving through water. Report flooding to local emergency services if safe.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and isolated storms capable of heavy rain could lead to
flash flooding in areas where ground is already very wet from
prior days of rainfall. In Pennsylvania and northern West
Virginia, where less rainfall has occurred prior, heavy rainfall
tonight may be sufficient for flash flooding despite the lack of
notable prior rainfall.

Whatever your dreams might be whether it’s going into college, joining your local Volunteer Fire Department going into the military, or whatever else your plans may be, we wish you all success. Today we celebrate all mothers. Mothers who raised our firefighters and wives of our firefighters who are raising our future.
