Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that symbolizes freedom, resilience and unity. ❤️💚💛

On June 19, 1865, word finally reached the slaves in Galveston, Texas that they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. That delay is part of the story we must never forget. Today we pause, reflect and celebrate how far we have come while acknowledging how far we still have to go.

Reminder Bridgeport! 🚧

Paving work is ongoing on Route 130, starting on School St and Scofield Ave. The milling and resurfacing project covers 1.93 miles of Route 130 through Fairfield and Bridgeport and runs through July 30.

Motorists can expect lane closures from Eastbound US-1 Northbound to the I-95 underpass. Night work hours are 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM Saturday through Sunday.

Please slow down and drive safely through the work zone.
