Today, June 15, 2023, marks the end of an era for the 4th Recruit Training Battalion at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Since November 1, 1986, the 4th Recruit Training Battalion has been instrumental in shaping generations of enlisted female Marines.
The brave women of this battalion have laid the foundation for countless others, contributing to the legacy that all Marines take pride in. Their unwavering determination and faithful service mirror the spirit of all female Marines.
Staff Sergeant Jassmin Paezperez, hailing from Riverside, California, joined the Marine Corps in July 2013. Driven by a sense of duty and guided by her patriotic Army JROTC instructors, she found a deep sense of pride and camaraderie in the Marine Corps.
Sergeant Nicole Eberle, a native of Catawissa, Missouri, enlisted in the Marine Corps in April 2016. Eager to escape her small town and discover new parts of the world, she has grown grateful for the knowledge she has gained, the bonds she has formed, and the dramatic shift in perspective she has experienced since her days as a small-town country girl in 2016.
Corporal Katie Wells, from Sadorus, Illinois, joined the Marine Corps in June 2019, shortly after graduating high school. She always knew she wanted a career in law enforcement, and the Marine Corps offered her an opportunity to build confidence and connections. Leaving her small farm town behind, she embraced a broader worldview and is profoundly thankful for the friendships she developed.
