We are pleased to announce that 39-person firm B.D. Abel of Wilmington, DE, has become a part of Pennoni Associates. Our firm acquired the assets of B.D. Abel effective Monday, January 27, 2014.

Founded in 1975, B.D. Abel is one of the only engineering firms in the tri-state area to offer NEBB certified HVAC Testing and Balancing services, ensuring that designs work as intended. They are certified in the state of Delaware by the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) for Testing, Adjusting and Balancing of Air and Hydronic Systems. B.D. Abel is also certified by NEBB in Building Systems Commissioning for HVAC and Plumbing. B.D. Abel’s capabilities in Testing and Balancing will be a supplemental service for Pennoni and will be value-added to our existing client base, as well as opening new and exciting opportunities with potential clients of our firm.

In addition to their Testing and Balancing practice, B.D. Abel has a strong reputation in providing engineering support for laboratory and research facilities, clean room design, process and manufacturing, and electrical power design as well as standard mechanical, HVAC, and lighting design.

B.D. Abel’s president, Robert Hayden, PE, will now serve as Associate Vice President at Pennoni. The addition of B.D. Abel further strengthens Pennoni’s MEP engineering capabilities and provides an expanded client base for all Pennoni services. Perhaps just as important as the capabilities that the team at B.D. Abel will bring to Pennoni is the cultural match that exists between our two firms. Their motto of “Focus on Results” is a mantra shared here at Pennoni, making sure that above all we are focused on the needs of our clients and providing creative, cost-effective solutions on-time and within budget.

Bob Hayden and his staff will maintain their office in Wilmington, DE, until the end of 2014, at which point they will move into our Newark, DE, office.
