Firefighter (Ret.) Lorne “Bob” Wastell
BFD Badge #10

December 4, 1945 – April 16, 2026

It is with deep regret the Bridgeton Fire Department announces the passing of FF Robert Wastell.

FF Wastell began his fire service career on September 17, 1978, serving with pride as a Firefighter, EMT, Arson Investigator and Fire Inspector. FF Wastell was affectionately known as “Fireman Bob” after developing and leading the Fire Prevention program for Bridgeton Public Schools. FF Wastell served the Bridgeton Fire Department for over 25 years, retiring on March 1, 2004.

FF Wastell most recently served as the Chairman of the Trustees for the Bridgeton Firemen Relief Association until is passing.
His dedication, service and legacy will never be forgotten.

Good afternoon everyone!

We hope that you are safe and have conquered the snow! However, just because the sun is currently shining, does not mean there are no dangers!

Please be safe! Many of the roads and intersections are still covered with snow and ice. Only leave your home, or go someplace, if you absolutely have to.

If you are out trying to shovel, there is a chance of slipping and broken bones. Also, rest while shoveling, we do not want anyone to have a respiratory, or cardiac, issue with the increase exertion level used to shovel. Lastly, please do not shovel the snow back into the roadway, it is dangerous for vehicles and could cause an accident.

Tonight, and the next several days, the temperature will not get above freezing and there will be ice on sidewalks and roads.

Finally, check on your neighbors and keep your pets inside.
