We need a strong clinician who is fully comfortable and self-assured running calls as the lead provider alongside an EMT-Paramedic, EMT-Advanced or EMT-Basic partner. If you are an experienced medic who thrives in an independent, high-standard environment and loves mentoring partners, we want to talk to you.

What We’re Looking For:
-Active North Carolina Paramedic Certification (or eligible for reciprocity)
-Boarded with Medical Director for Craven County
-Strong clinical decision-making and ALS leadership skills
-Proven confidence taking charge of complex calls with an EMT-B partner
-Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications
-Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
-High standard of patient care and strong communication skills

Crews may be out on a call: The station is often empty while our units are actively responding to other emergencies.

Dispatch alerts the team: Calling 911 ensures dispatchers can immediately notify our crew to meet you at the doors or reroute an ambulance directly to your location.

Help starts on the phone: 911 dispatchers provide life-saving instructions while help is organized.

If you are experiencing an emergency or heading toward the station for care, always dial 911 first so our responders know to meet you!

Community Traffic Advisory: Responder Es**rt Today
Local Fire and EMS agencies within Craven County will be standing by and accompanying a fallen responder today as they are being brought home to their family.

What to expect: Expect temporary traffic delays, brief intersection holds, and emergency vehicles with active lights accompanying the transport along the route. Emergency vehicles will be present on some overpasses as well.

How you can help: If you encounter the es**rt, please pull over safely to the right side of the road, stop, and allow the procession to pass without interruption.

Cleveland County Mourns the Loss of Paramedic/Field Training Officer Ashley Moore

Shelby, North Carolina — It is with sincere regret and heavy hearts that Cleveland County announces the Line of Duty death of Ms. Ashley Moore, Paramedic/Field Training Officer who was killed in the Line of Duty as the result of a traffic collision in Gaston County, North Carolina on Monday, July 6th, 2026.

Ms. Ashley Moore, Paramedic/Field Training Officer served with Cleveland County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for nine (9) years. She exemplified the highest standards of the EMS profession and dedication to our community.

“Our entire Cleveland County team is grieving the loss of one of our own," said Thomas McNeilly, Emergency Medical Services Director.

"Our immediate priority is supporting Ashley’s family and our first responders during this tragedy. We ask the public to keep their families and our EMS staff in their prayers," stated David B. Cotton, County Manager.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy, no further information or details will be released at this time. An official update regarding memorial services will be provided in the coming days.

As we celebrate our nation’s independence today with family, friends, barbecues, and fireworks, our dedicated team is on standby and ready to keep our community safe.
We love a good celebration, but we want to make sure everyone stays out of the back of the ambulance shown in image.png! If you’re celebrating today, please keep these quick safety tips in mind:
Leave fireworks to the pros: If you are using consumer fireworks, ensure you have a bucket of water nearby and never let children handle them.
Stay hydrated: The July heat is no joke. Drink plenty of water alongside your favorite holiday beverages. Shade is crucial. Take breaks indoors. The heat advisory can and will be dangerous.
Grill safely: Keep grills well away from the house, deck railings, and out from under eaves or overhanging branches.
