Congratulations to Taylor Richey, a school counselor from the Woodbridge School District, my alma mater district, who has been named the 2026 Delaware Behavioral Health Professional of the Year! Ms. Richey is a school counselor at the Woodbridge Early Childhood Education Center.

During Ms. Riche’s remarks about receiving this honor, she reflected on her work with a student who eloped, received frequent disciplinary referrals for fighting, was socially withdrawn, and was failing academically. After consistent school counseling support, the student began engaging positively with staff and peers and attained honor roll status.

The Delaware State Behavioral Health Professional of the Year program is administered by the Delaware Department of Education. The program recognizes outstanding service by school employees who are healthcare practitioners or human service providers offering services for the purpose of improving students’ mental health. The Delaware Charter School Network also is invited to participate. Employees considered for the award include school counselors, school social workers, school psychologists, school nurses, and licensed clinical social workers.

Fortunately, we Democrats in Dover are introducing legislation to make things how they should be.

A judge in Delaware, where many big U.S. companies are incorporated, ruled ‌on Tuesday that a small town that allows corporations to vote in municipal elections was not violating the state's constitution.

This is terrific news!

One big reason we pay such high prices for electricity in Delaware is that out of all the states in the nation, we produce the least amount of our own electricity.

This project has the potential to bring a massive amount of electricity to Delaware while producing no pollution or negative effects for the environment.

The Delaware Supreme Court has affirmed a decision by the Court of Chancery regarding a state law that effectively overturns Sussex County's denial of an electrical substation for an offshore wind project.

Guess who is working on a package of bills this year regarding campaign finance reform and transparency in Delaware? Democrats.

And then I’ve got a Republican in a committee railing against one of my bills because it’s just too much to ask that he and his treasurer take a short online campaign finance course every two years.

May is Motorcycle Awareness Month, and the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV), along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), reminds all drivers that motorcyclists' safety is everyone's safety.

Drivers, please do your part and give motorcyclists extra room to stop and maneuver. Always look out for motorcyclists when turning, changing lanes, and entering intersections.

Motorcyclists, please make yourselves visible by always using your headlights, wearing protective clothing, dressing for a crash, and never traveling in a vehicle's blind spot.

Each year, from March - November, DMV offers six motorcycle safety courses for various skill levels, including an instructor-level course for individualsinterested in becoming a certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rider Coach.

Course benefits include professional training and up to 15% off motorcycle liability insurance. Also, upon successful course completion, graduates receive a certificate allowing them to obtain their motorcycle endorsement without additional DMV testing.

Last year, 17 motorcyclists were killed on Delaware roadways. As of today, four motorcyclists have been killed this year.
