Joel Thomas - District 1 Town Council Candidate

Joel Thomas - District 1 Town Council Candidate My wife, daughter and I have proudly called Bridgewater home for the past 13 years and chose this area as it had great potential.

Congratulations to Tim Trocchio for District 1 Town Council. Represent District 1 in the best interest as an Agent of the people.

It was a fun race and I enjoyed it the whole time.

Cormier, I appreciate everything and was pleased with the race.

We will see you all soon.

A final note:

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and taken the time to reach out during this campaign.

Between military service, work, and family, it’s been a busy stretch — and I’m grateful for the patience and encouragement along the way.

I want to thank the others in this race for making this memorable and supporting me when I wasn't sure about continuing. No matter who you choose, just get out and vote tomorrow, District 1 needs this representation!

My family and I truly appreciate this community.

There are 3 questions on the ballot this year. Here’s a quick summarization:

Question 1:
Would allow Town Council members to receive a stipend ($5,000 for members, $7,500 for the Council President).

I believe public service should be about serving the community first. I understand the time commitment involved, but I don’t think increasing stipends should be the priority right now given the issues we’re facing — especially with school funding, water and infrastructure.

Question 2:
Changes how temporary absences of the Town Manager are handled — putting the Assistant Town Manager in charge first, and clarifying who steps in if needed.

This is a common-sense update. It creates a clearer chain of command and ensures continuity in leadership if the Town Manager is unavailable. I support making sure there’s no confusion when it comes to running town operations.

Question 3:
Updates how boards and committees are appointed — allowing the Town Council to create ad hoc committees to assist with its work, while most appointments remain with the Town Manager.

I support giving the Town Council the ability to form ad hoc committees when needed. It allows for more flexibility and helps the council better represent residents and dig into important issues. At the same time, it keeps the overall structure in place with the Town Manager handling appointments.

Been off the radar for military orders.

Since getting back, I spent 11 days responding to 426 messages — texts, emails, and voicemails. Every single one, personally.

That’s how I operate. People deserve to be heard — and I don’t skip anyone.

That won’t change if I’m elected. I’m running to represent you, not the system.

Your voice will be heard.

I’m back. Let’s go.
