City Wide 2026 Fall Clean Up Day Bridgewater Iowa—Saturday, September 19, 2026 8:30 am – 11:30 am
Bridgewater city residents are encouraged to use this opportunity to dispose of debris, trash, appliances, trash, appliances, tires, batteries, recyclables, yard waste and more.
This City Wide Clean Up Day is not intended to replace regular, routine, timely household garbage, trash, waste or refuse collection and pick up.
ATTENTION—CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS CLEAN UP DAYS--$10 CHARGE ON EACH MATTRESS OR BOX SPRING
Roll off dumpsters will be provided for solid waste. Solid waste may include but is not limited to garbage, trash, toys, clothing, shoes, small appliances, small furniture (must be broken down or dismantled, less than 3 feet pieces), etc. There is no charge for solid waste disposal. No TVs or computer monitors. Computer towers are acceptable.
The following items ARE ACCEPTABLE—refrigerators, freezers, kitchen ranges, stoves, ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, compactors, washers, dryers, water heaters, air conditioners, sinks, printers, computer towers, lawn mowers, tillers, bicycles, tricycles, furnaces, lawn furniture, anything primarily iron or metal.
Appliances (as above) will be accepted FROM RESIDENTS AND NON-RESIDENTS at no charge.
Tires for recycling will be accepted at the following individual prices*. Check with workers for drop off location.
$10 additional charge per tired if still attached to a rim. Rims will be sent to scrap
Passenger care tire--$6 each tire--pickup tire-$8 each tire--semi-truck tire-$22 each tire--front tractor tire-$35 each tire--rear tractor tire-$65 each tire *Tire recycling charges subject to change from listed prices
Vehicle batteries (no charge) Waste oil, must be clean with no water or sediment (no charge)
Any and all fees MUST be paid by cash or good check at the time of drop off. Checks made payable to City of Bridgewater.
Please recycle the following items in the provided Adair County Recycling bins on South Main Street.
Glass – Mixed Paper (computer paper, junk mail) – Cardboard – Aluminum can
The following items may be disposed of at the city brush dump on 280th Street: tree limbs, sticks, tree trunks, branches, twigs, vines, etc. Clean yard waste, grass clippings, weeds, leaves, etc.
The following items WILL NOT be accepted or permitted in solid waste: Hazardous waste; insecticide; pesticides; chemicals of any kind; construction, demolition, or home improvements debris (lumber, drywall, shingles, siding, roofing, flooring, carpeting), TVs computer monitors.
Paint cans should be opened and allowed to dry to a hard dry mass then will be allowed as solid waste.
Blocks, bricks, stones, rock, stand, clean dirt may be disposed of at the “fill” pile. Ask for location. All fencing must be rolled, bundled, tied and contained in small enough quantities as to be handled, lifted and carried by one person. No pulled lengths, strings or runs of fencing will be accepted.
Bridgewater City Council reserves the right to limit quantities, refuse collection or refuse drop off of items from anyone. Fees subject to change without notice.

Proof of residency may be required showing current Bridgewater city address for certain items such as solid waste. (Iowa ID, valid driver’s license, utility bill with name and Bridgewater address will meet requirement as proof of residency).
