BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset CountyProsecutor’s Office Acting Chief of County Detectives Meredith McKay and Bridgewater Township Chief of Police John B. Mitzak announced a fatal accident investigation that occurred in the area of
Finderne Avenue near the intersection of Van Veghten Drive in the late evening hours of Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Bridgewater Township.

Prosecutor McDonald stated that on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 9:41 p.m. Bridgewater Police
Department responded to Finderne Avenue near the intersection of Van Veghten Drive for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers observed a two-car accident involving a Honda and a Kia. The driver of the Honda was transported to an area trauma hospital for treatment of injuries sustained from the crash. The driver of the Kia, a male resident from Piscataway, suffered critical injuries from the accident. The driver of the Kia was transported to a local trauma hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The front passenger and two rear passengers of the Kia
were also transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained from the accident.
Members of the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to investigate along with members of the Bridgewater Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. The investigation is currently ongoing pending
the results of the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team’s findings.
Prosecutor McDonald, Acting Chief McKay, and Chief Mitzak request anyone with information
relating to this investigation to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office at (908) 231-7100 or the Bridgewater Police Department Traffic Safety Unit at (908) 725-4111 or via the STOPit app.
