So honored to nominate Bridgewater resident David Michael for the first LGBTQ+ Commonwealth Pride Awards.

David Michael is a community advocate, volunteer leader, and champion for inclusion whose work has helped create welcoming spaces, meaningful connections, and greater visibility for LGBTQ+ individuals throughout southeastern Massachusetts.

David is the Director of Community Networking for The be; community and an active volunteer with Bridgewater Communities for Civil Rights. Professionally, David is a real estate agent serving the Southeast Massachusetts region.

Busy day in the district. First I attended the Bridgewater Fire Department Firefighter Sunday ceremony. Congratulations to all those who were awarded service awards and service pins. Special congratulations to FF Christopher Macone for being named Bridgewater’s Firefighter of the year. Next I went to the Raynham firefighter Sunday ceremony. Congratulations to all those who received service pins. Special congratulations to Raynham retired police chief - Peter King for being selected as this years VIP award recipient.
Then I attend the annual Flag day flag retirement ceremony at Bridgewater Vets Club.

Sales Tax Free Weekend….August 8th and 9th 2026.

Today, the Massachusetts House and Senate announced the states 6.25 percent sales tax will be suspended for most retail items priced under $2,500 on August 8th and 9th, 2026.

A 2018 state law, made the sales tax holiday permanent and the Legislature votes ever year to set the official sales tax weekend. This year’s resolutions can be found under H.5495 and S.3119.

Today was the 42nd Heritage Day of Portugal at the Massachusetts State House.

I was happy to nominate Christopher Chaves of Bridgewater who currently serves as President of the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society in Bridgewater. Chris is also dedicated dad, husband and coach.

The day was filled with Portuguese music, food and culture. Congratulations Chris on your nomination and award!🇺🇸🇵🇹
