Mark Arnold Roskein, Aged 92, died May 6, 2026.
Mark was born in Weehawken, New Jersey. He was raised in Newark, NJ by his father Graham Roskein, Lillian Pine Steinberg and step-father Bernie Steinberg. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He married Linda Zazulia of Newark, NJ in February 1956. With his wife and growing family, Mark moved to Middlesex before moving to Bridgewater in 1966.
He devoted his life to serving others as a police officer for the NJ Port Authority, a Retail Clerks Labor Union Representative, and a dedicated volunteer fireman and commissioner for Finderne Engine Company #1. He was also appointed by the governor as a member of the New Jersey Noise Council and was a past commander of the Jewish War Veterans Louis Rothberg Post 119 in Plainfield.
With his loving wife, Linda, Mark co-owned and operated Bonnie’s Florist in Somerville, which during their 16 years in business, moved to Raritan. He was later employed as director of emergency management for Bridgewater Township and as an investigator of environmental crimes for the Somerset County Health Department for 28 years, retiring in 2016.
Among Mark’s many qualities, he was well known for his gregarious personality, sense of humor, and how he made close friends of many coworkers. He was known for his operatic tenure singing voice. He enjoyed fishing as well as taking care of fish as pets in elaborate tanks, even one he kept at his desk at work. He also liked tinkering and creating custom greeting cards for family celebrations, each one marked with his trademark “Kilroy Was Here” emblem. Always interested in technology, he took pride in rebuilding computers for family and friends.
Above all, Mark was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
