The allegation that my proposed amendment to Policy 2535 - Library Materials on August 25th, 2026 would restrict library books and curriculum is categorically untruthful and misleading to members of the public and to the parents and families of Bridgewater & Raritan. To families, I am sorry that what-should-be trusted news sources fail to adequately cite sources and provide the clear facts. Here's direct quotes from my amendment/statute pertaining to "developmentally inappropriate" materials: "d. "Developmentally inappropriate" means material that violates the district's objective age-appropriate content standards. Pursuant to the statutory exception in N.J.S.A. 18A:34A-3, the Board establishes the following objective standards: (1) Elementary and Classroom Libraries: Material is developmentally inappropriate if it contains visual or visually implied depictions of sexual acts, explicit written descriptions of sexual acts, or visual depictions of nudity. (2) Middle School and Classroom Libraries: Material is developmentally inappropriate if it contains visual depictions of sexual acts or explicit written descriptions of sexual acts. Visual depictions of nudity are prohibited unless strictly necessary for science/health curriculum, breastfeeding education, classical works of art, or other educational requirements as outlined in New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS). (3) High School Libraries: Material is developmentally inappropriate if it contains visual or visually implied depictions of explicit sexual acts." Unlike what you have been led to believe, my proposal is about keeping school libraries appropriate for minors and children, not restricting them from learning or exploring literature. In no way was my amendment changing anything about curriculum let alone restricting it. I find it shocking and appalling that trusted local news sources would seek to editorialize for the sake of ratings and personal gain without referencing clear facts and sources. The public deserves better than this. Our opponents will continue to rely on inflammatory rhetoric, gaslighting, and accusations to distract the public from the real facts: I expect no less. At the end of the day, my amendment is simple: empower parents as partners in education to determine what books are appropriate for their children, empower parents as partners to be notified when challenged books under the Policy are checked out, and make sure that school libraries contain content appropriate for minors. When we work with parents as partners and keep the focus of our libraries on being centers of learning, we better support students and increase student achievement & outcomes. As long as I stand, I will continue to fight for families and to fight for every student because Bridgewater's fight is my fight.

This August BOE Meeting, I was proud to introduce the Family Rights in School Libraries Amendment alongside my colleague Dr. Lucy Li.

This amendment is about empowering parents and protecting children. It would have expanded opt-out choices for families, parental notification for families, and oversight over what school library books we acquire with taxpayer dollars.

Unfortunately the rest of the Puppet Majority voted NO to empowering families.

🚨 WHEN THEY CAN'T WIN THE DEBATE, THEY SILENCE YOUR VOICE! 🚨

Watch what happens in this video when I dared to speak up for families. Right in the middle of my speech advocating for your fundamental right to guide your child’s education, the Puppet President called a sudden, clandestine recess just to shut down debate and cut off my microphone.

Why were they so desperate to silence me? Because they didn't want the public to hear what they were about to vote down.

I introduced a common-sense policy amendment designed to guarantee parental notification and empower PARENTS to stop their own children from checking out sexually explicit books in our school libraries. It did not remove a single book: it simply put families back in the driver's seat of education where they belong.

Yet, the Puppet Majority voted NO to parents. They voted NO to transparency. And most hypocritically of all, they voted NO to parental empowerment.

On the other hand, Dr. Lucy Li and I voted YES to families and YES to transparency.

Before Rebecca Hassouna was elected, she publicly promised voters: "I fully support parents having the opportunity to opt their child out of things they disagree with."

Yet when the time came to cast a vote that would actually give parents that exact opt-out power, she turned her back on families and voted NO alongside the rest of the Puppet Majority. Talk is cheap during campaign season, but votes don’t lie!

This is the stark reality of our current Board: while parents across Bridgewater and Raritan simply want a voice in their children’s education, this out-of-touch, bureaucracy-serving majority believes they know better than you. Rather than partnering with parents, they would rather shut down public debate, cut microphones, and strip away your rights.

When they silenced debate, they SILENCED YOU. We deserve leaders who actually practice what they preach and stand up for families—not bureaucrats who hide in the dark!

At the June 16th BOE meeting, I stood proudly by Parents & Students to support a policy to protect access to senior events & activities for every student who graduates early. No student should be punished for pursuing a different educational path. Every student’s individual academic achievement should be celebrated without excessive bureaucratic barriers and roadblocks.

As your voice, I will continue to fight for our community and for every family while the rest of the BOE focuses on out-of-touch micromanagement and delusional solutions to non-existent problems.

Every special needs parent knows the exhaustion of fighting a system that feels designed to keep you in the dark. I introduced policy changes to finally fix this by guaranteeing you get draft IEPs days before a meeting, officially protecting your right to record those meetings, and cutting the bureaucratic red tape that delays getting your child help.

But instead of supporting your families, a new BOE member, who campaigned on being your champion, joined puppet BOE leadership to silence the motion. I do not believe in empty campaign promises. I believe in empowering parents with real action. No matter who tries to shut the microphone off, I will never stop fighting to give you the respect and partnership you deserve at the IEP table.

When I campaigned for a seat on the Board of Education, I made a clear promise to our community: I would bring rigorous fiscal oversight and real accountability to our district. True fiscal responsibility isn’t just about passing a budget—it’s about verifying where every single taxpayer dollar actually goes. For too long, the norm has been to simply rubber-stamp hundreds of pages of spending without asking the hard questions. That is not oversight.

To ensure the accountability I promised, I recently reviewed public records and invoices to compare them directly against our approved budget allocations. The discrepancies demand immediate answers:

🔍 The Weightroom Discrepancy: We budgeted $57,000 across 2025 to 2027 for weightroom equipment. The actual invoices found for these purchases in the public record? $0. (See attached OPRA response).

🔍 The Landyard Gap: We budgeted $17,000 for lanyards, yet public records show ONLY $950 spent on items like lanyards for 2025-2026. (See attached purchase order).

When budgeted line items routinely fail to match actual spending, we have to ask: Where are the remaining tens of thousands of dollars being quietly reallocated? I campaigned on ending the era of operating in the dark, and I intend to keep that promise. I will continue to exercise fiscal oversight, advocate for taxpayers, and ask the tough questions that deserve answers. We owe it to the taxpayers to ensure taxpayer funds are used wisely.
