Thanks for coming out to KidScare on Friday, August 7th! A rollicking good time was had by all- over 130 kids and 90 adults joined in the fun. We had a surprise appearance by local legends Barnacle Billy, Captain Ken, and the intrepid Carmichael the Sea Cucumber!

Next up: SeaScare PorchLight Parade down Brier Road, tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 12th! Kids and adults who joined us at KidScare are welcome to grab their pirate hats and walk the parade route with the library! Meet up at 6:45 at the corner of 232nd and Brier Road!

All people, genres, and interests are welcome! Share an old favorite or something you’re currently reading! We had a fabulous time meeting the horses of Brier this morning! Lots of horse books were checked out; we distributed info about our summer reading program and our many onlline services, as well as upcoming events (KidScare Pirate Party in the Park, August 7th!) Attention plant enthusiasts! Do you over prepare for your garden and end up with extra seedlings?

Meet fellow gardeners and diversify your garden at our monthly Seedling Swap. Join us on the third Saturday of every month, May through August, between 11 am and 1 pm to exchange your spare seedlings, extra bulbs, and excess homegrown produce for someone else’s!

Seedlings will be swapped 1 for 1. Be prepared to complete a form for each plant noting variety, sun and water requirements, and any special instructions. Please ensure your seedlings are free of diseases and pests.

Don’t have a green thumb but still want to participate? Join us for some plant-themed crafting fun. In July we will be repainting indoor pots. Feel free to bring your own pots that you would like to spruce up or come paint one that we will provide.

Avast, ye scallywags! Volunteers needed!

It's that time of year again! Brier Library is getting ready for our annual KidScare Pirate Party at Brier Park, Friday, August 7th, to get ready for the SeaScare parade the following Wednesday. Last year we had around 140 kids, and our volunteer help made the whole thing possible. Do you have a few hours to spare to help us set up and break down? Or to help hand out snacks and do crafts and games with the kids? If so, please sign up today at the link below! Teens aged 14 and up are eligible, and we may have some continuing volunteer opportunities become available for those who help with KidScare. Thank you!
