PROMOTION CEREMONY: SEPTEMBER 2, 2026

The Brigantine Police Department is proud to announce three promotions. The ceremonial oaths of office for each officer were administered by Mayor Vince Sera during the September 2, 2026, Brigantine City Council meeting.

We are pleased to recognize the following members:

• Steven Ward was promoted from Captain to Chief of Police. Chief Ward assumed command of the Brigantine Police Department upon the retirement of Chief Casamento on February 1, 2026. His ceremonial oath of office was administered during the September 2 City Council meeting.

• John Glasser III was promoted from Detective Lieutenant to Captain. He will assume duties of Investigations Division Commander.

• William Ferris, Jr. was promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant. He is assigned as the officer in charge of Squad #2.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Ward, Captain Glasser, and Lieutenant Ferris on their promotions!

📢New Speed Notification Signs in Brigantine📢

The Brigantine Police Department has installed several stationary electronic speed‑notification signs in areas where residents have raised concerns about speeding. These signs are strictly traffic‑calming devices — they do not track vehicles, record information, or issue summonses.

Their purpose is simple: give drivers a quick reminder of their speed and encourage safer driving. They support our ongoing efforts to reduce speeding, prevent crashes, and keep our roads safe for residents, visitors, pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists.

More signs will be placed around the island in the coming weeks. We’ll continue to look at traffic patterns, enforcement data, and feedback from our community when deciding where additional measures may help.
