One thing that makes our hiring process different: your interview will be conducted by line staff. The people sitting across from you are the firefighters and medics you could be working alongside every shift. We believe the people on the fireground should help choose who joins the team.

Brighton Fire Rescue crews recently trained alongside the North Area Technical Rescue Team (NATRT) at North Metro Fire Rescue District's Training Center during a confined space rescue training day.

The training included a realistic scenario involving a child who crawled into a drainage culvert and became trapped, requiring crews to assess hazards, establish a rescue plan, and safely remove the patient from the confined space. Firefighters also participated in a vertical rigging skills lab focused on rope systems, patient packaging, and technical rescue operations.

Training like this strengthens regional partnerships and ensures crews are prepared for low-frequency, high-risk emergencies requiring specialized rescue skills.

Today, Brighton Fire Rescue honors and remembers the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer. It is a time to reflect on the courage, selflessness, and dedication of those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We extend our gratitude to the families who carry the weight of that sacrifice and to all who continue to serve our country.

Please join us in taking a moment to remember and honor our fallen heroes.

Yesterday at 2:43 p.m., Brighton Fire Rescue and South Adams County Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident near East 120th Avenue and Harvest Road involving a head-on collision between two pickup trucks.

Crews arrived to find both vehicles with heavy damage. The driver of the first pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. Firefighters extricated the passenger from the vehicle, who was flown by HCA HealthONE AirLife to a trauma center in critical condition.

Three occupants were inside the second pickup truck. The two front-seat passengers were able to self-extricate prior to crews’ arrival. Firefighters extricated the rear-seat passenger, who was also in critical condition. All three were transported to local hospitals.

All patients are currently stable and doing well.

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this tragic incident.

Thank you to Colorado State Patrol for their assistance on scene, and they are investigating the cause of the accident.
