Our Lady of Fatima revealed to little Jacinta Marto that “the sins which cause most souls to go to hell are the sins of the flesh”—the sins of impurity, lust, unchastity, adultery, and every offense against the holy virtue of purity.
This is not a new revelation. Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, Doctor of the Church, called impurity “Hell’s Widest Gate”—the gate through which the greater number of the damned enter eternity. In his powerful sermon he wrote:
“We have now to speak of the fourth gate of Hell, which is impurity, and it is by this gate that the greater number of the damned enter… It is a mortal sin… and it sends most men to hell.”
Saint Padre Pio echoed the same grave truth, warning that “impurity is the sin that drags more souls to hell” and that it destroys the soul’s light with frightening speed.
The saints and mystics do not speak these things to frighten us without hope — they speak to awaken us to mercy while there is still time! The flesh is weak, but God is stronger. The devil knows that this particular sin blinds the intellect, hardens the heart, and leads souls by the millions into eternal fire.
Yet Jesus Christ has given us every weapon we need: the Sacrament of Confession, the Most Holy Eucharist, the Rosary, daily prayer, custody of the eyes, and the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
“Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8)

Human sexuality remains one of the greatest challenges the Church must address. Many saints, including St. Augustine, had to overcome this struggle first in order to respond more faithfully to God’s call.
The road to heaven is narrow—but open to all who repent and fight. Turn to Our Lady. She who is all-pure will obtain for you the grace of perfect chastity and final perseverance.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph in our souls!
