Save Monroe Ave

Save Monroe Ave No special deal! A group of businesses ensuring The Project is "right-sized, not super-sized." Let's develop within zoning limits, traffic will thank us.

Save Monroe is an organization opposed to the further deterioration of traffic conditions on Monroe Avenue. New York State Department of Transportation has already given Monroe Avenue an “F”. Therefore, Save Monroe is opposed to the Town of Brighton granting this Developer permission for a “supersized” 90,000 square foot strip mall at 2740/2750 Monroe. This new strip mall would significantly excee

d the current zoning limits for size (and traffic). The Developer is requesting that the Town of Brighton make an exception and permit this Project at 150% of what is permitted. SaveMonroeAve.org is in favor of preserving the current zoning and is opposed to any special exceptions for this Developer that would worsen traffic along the Monroe Avenue Corridor and adjacent neighborhoods.

It’s a new year, and our fight continues to protect the Brighton community from the increased traffic that we’ve already seen with just 5% of the Whole Foods plaza open. We don’t oppose a Whole Foods, but the traffic is going to get a LOT worse when potentially 22 stores open in the plaza. Our trial continues, and if we win Brighton residents will get a chance to vote on the plaza’s size. Shrink the plaza, ease the traffic: http://bit.ly/BGR-EmailList

BGR will continue to fight to keep the Auburn Trail in its original location, Shrink the plaza size, and protect Monroe Avenue and the adjacent residential neighborhoods. As DOT had predicted would happen, Monroe Ave is already often gridlocked, and that is with only 5% of the plaza opened.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our fight to give Brighton residents the chance to vote on the size of the Whole Foods plaza! Brighton residents have a legal right to vote on this plaza’s size, a right the Town continues to try to block. Join our cause: http://bit.ly/BGR-EmailList

We are in the final stretch of holiday shopping, and the awful traffic on Monroe Ave (with just the Starbucks open) has made it clear that this corridor can’t handle potentially 22 stores in the Whole Foods plaza. Our trial is in full swing, and we are pushing to give Brighton voters the chance to vote on the size of this oversized plaza. Sign up for our newsletter: http://bit.ly/BGR-EmailList

Our trial is underway, and we are fighting for a smaller, better-designed Whole Foods plaza. We don’t oppose a Whole Foods, but the plaza as it’s currently designed should never have been approved. If we win in court, the people of Brighton will have a chance to vote on the plaza’s size. Shrink the plaza, ease the traffic: http://bit.ly/BGR-EmailList

The horrible holiday-season traffic on Monroe Ave is back! Imagine how much worse it will be if the remaining 95% of the Whole Foods plaza opens. We’re fighting to shrink it. Our trial begins Dec. 5. If we win, the public will get a chance to vote on the size of the plaza. We’re fighting to make the Developer redesign and shrink the plaza’s footprint to ease the traffic, improve parking, and protect the residential neighborhood next door. Why is the Town of Brighton trying to stop YOU from voting on the size of the Whole Foods plaza? Our trial begins Dec. 5. If we win, the public will get a chance to vote on the plaza’s size and the Developer could be forced to redesign and shrink the plaza. The Town won’t protect its residents and save our residential neighborhoods from commercial development. But we will! Learn more: http://bit.ly/BGR-EmailList

A lucrative special deal between the Town of Brighton and the Developer that bypassed standard zoning limits means YOU are stuck with even more traffic from the Whole Foods plaza. We don’t oppose the Whole Foods, but there are too many stores and too much traffic. Our trial begins Dec. 5, and if we win Brighton residents will get a chance to vote on the size of the plaza. The Court’s September ruling that we “have a compelling case” in our main lawsuits against the Whole Foods plaza puts the project in serious jeopardy. The trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 5. If we win, the public will have a chance to vote on the plaza’s size, and the Developer could be forced to shrink and redesign portions of it, including those already built. BREAKING NEWS: The Court ruled this week that we “have a compelling case” in our main lawsuits against the Whole Foods plaza, denying a request by the Town and the Developer to dismiss our claims. The trial is scheduled to begin December 5. If we prevail, the public will get a chance to vote on the size of the plaza, and the Developer will likely be forced to shrink and redesign portions of it — including those already built.
