in action!

While on proactive patrols last month, Officers Reyes and Murphy came across a vehicle stalled in the roadway near South 4th Avenue and East Bromley Lane. When contacting the occupants, they learned that two juvenile females were stranded after running out of gas while trying to get home.

Recognizing the situation and wanting to make sure the juveniles could get home safely, the officers stepped in to help. They pushed the vehicle to the nearest gas station and purchased enough fuel to get the car running again.

This simple act of service reflects the commitment our officers make every day—not only to keeping our community safe, but also to helping those in need whenever the opportunity arises.

Thanks to the quick actions of Officers Reyes and Murphy, what could have been a stressful situation ended with two young community members safely on their way home!

This morning, around 6:50 a.m., Officers were dispatched to a possible crash on eastbound Interstate 76 near Eagle Blvd. When officers arrived on scene, they found a cement truck with the left front tire blown out.

While speaking to the driver, officers found that the driver did not have the correct class of license, his CDL had been revoked, the vehicle was not registered (hadn’t been since August 2025), and the vehicle was not insured. Officers ALSO found other tires with issues, as shown in these photos.

The vehicle was repaired enough on scene to remove it from the interstate. The driver was then required to fix the remaining issues with the vehicle before leaving. He did so at a nearby gas station.

Our officers issued the driver a summons for the numerous offenses listed above.

All information will be forwarded to the Colorado State Patrol Motor Carrier Division for review.

🚨🚔 Brighton Police Officers arrest suspect on felony burglary charges! 🚔🚨

On May 18th, at around 1:30 a.m., officers on proactive patrols in the area of North Cabbage St and Strong St heard glass shatter.

They began searching the area and located a broken glass door to Tortilleria Chihuahua, at 188 Strong St. As they approached the business, an unknown male exited the building. Officers gave commands for the person to stop, but the male ignored the commands and fled.

Our officers then chased after the fleeing suspect down an alleyway to N Main St. They were able to catch the suspect, a 28-year-old male, and place him into custody without incident! He was arrested on the burglary charges, theft, and resisting arrest. The suspect was later booked into the Adams County Detention Facility after being medically cleared at the hospital.

During the investigation, security camera footage shows the suspect breaking into the business, going through the cash register, and then fleeing.

Staying proactive while patrolling is essential to the work our officers do in keeping our community safe. Thank you to our officers for your dedication, and thank you, Brighton, for being a community we are proud to serve!
