🐦💜 Meet Your Lavender Bird Walk Guide: Sheridan Samano!

We’re excited to welcome Sheridan Samano, wildlife enthusiast, guide, and Co-founder and Principal Consultant at Reefs To Rockies, as the leader of our upcoming Lavender Bird Walk at Barr Lake State Park.

Sheridan holds a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Science and a master’s degree in Biology. Her passion for wildlife began as a child flipping through National Geographic magazines and has taken her around the world—from leading sea turtle conservation programs in Costa Rica to guiding unforgettable wildlife experiences for travelers.

Known for her incredible ability to spot wildlife and create those “wow!” moments in the field, Sheridan loves helping others connect with nature. When she’s not traveling, you’ll find her exploring Colorado trails with her family, looking for birds and other wildlife—or enjoying a local craft beer after a day outdoors.

Join Sheridan for an evening of birding, community, and connection at the Lavender Bird Walk on July 2 at 5 pm at Barr Lake State Park.

We were thrilled to welcome the out this past Sunday, 5/17, where they spotted an incredible 50+ bird species in just one visit! From migratory visitors to year-round residents, Barr Lake continues to be one of Colorado’s most exciting birding hotspots.

It’s always inspiring to see passionate groups like DFO out on the trails—sharing knowledge, spotting new species, and celebrating the beauty of our local ecosystem. If you’re not familiar with them yet, DFO is an amazing community for anyone interested in birds, nature, and conservation, and we highly encourage you to check them out and get involved!

Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just getting started, Barr Lake is the perfect place to grab your binoculars and explore. You never know what you might see 👀🪶
