Just wrapped up an appointment in Brighton at the Law Offices of Luke Bowman! Excited to say there is an opportunity to partner with them, hopefully for many things! Today’s appointment was something i’m all too familiar with: a “Declaracion de Hechos”, or, “Statement of Facts.”

Some may know, some may not, but even with all of the polarized politics happening in the country, hundreds of thousands of people are still going through the process - seeking access to something most of us take for granted: Freedom.

It makes me so happy to be, even a small part of someone’s journey through our very complicated immigration process. The young man I met today was very kind, and excited to be one step closer to his goal. I wish him the best of luck!

If the function of a Notary Public could be boiled down to one thing, it is Fraud Prevention!

What we CAN do:

1) Confirm your identity, by means of Legal, Valid Photo Identification (drivers license, passport, Green Card, etc).

2) Place you under oath.

3) Stamp and sign the notarial block on your document(s), or in some cases, provide a stamp or loose leaf version of a notarial block to use, if your document doesn’t have one or is insufficient.

4) Charge $10 for each signature/stamp we provide (in Michigan.)

What we CAN’T do:

1) Give ANY kind of legal advice or services (we are not lawyers.)

2) Provide ANY documents (ie: we can not give you a blank copy of a Power of Attorney to fill out. This would be an unauthorized practice of law.)
*in most cases, we can PRINT your documents if you send them to us prior to the appointment.

3) We can not proceed with the appointment if you meet any of these concerns:

A) Identification Expired
B ) Not Coherent and or of Sound Mind
C) Seem to be under the influence of peer pressure or coercion.

4) Charge more than $10 for each signature/stamp we provide. That is the state maximum.

Hi Everyone! Did you know

that a Notary Public in Michigan cannot charge more than $10 per each notarization (signature and stamp)?

Now yes, there are other charges you might see, like a travel fee (must be agreed to before acceptance of job) and fees for printing documents if need be. If you need a courier for your document, either to get filed or apostilled, the Notary can help you out there as well, and that would be a separate fee.

But the notarization itself is $10 each stamp.

Keep this in mind when scheduling your appointment with any Notary in Michigan, even us Mobile Notaries.
