This evening members from multiple agencies came together to train on Pump operations, and large water supply. Crews utilized what’s called dual hard tubes to draft water and supply 2 aerial ladders. While this may not seem like much of a task, crews were shown how to maximize their equipment and pump to effectively supply 2300Gpm (from a 1500gpm rated pump) between the aerials utilizing a “looped system” to share water from one intake, to another. This type of training provides members with the knowledge and skill to be able to provide as much as, or more water than most municipal systems up and down the riverfront to a fire-ground, or even relayed if needed for greater distances. Thanks to Mingo Jct Fire Dept, New Alexandria Fire Dept, and Unionport Fire Departments for attending!

Please join us this Friday as we take delivery of our new apparatus, and follow a longstanding fire service tradition of “pushing in” our new rig.

A "push-in" ceremony is a cherished firehouse tradition in which firefighters and community members manually push a newly commissioned fire truck into its station bay. The custom is a direct tribute to the 1800s, honoring the history of the fire service while celebrating teamwork and the community's new equipment.

***Working Fire***

This afternoon at approximately 3:46 PM multiple departments were dispatched to a report of a house on fire on Co Rd 17. On arrival, crews had fire and smoke throughout the first floor of the home with a report of 2 dogs still inside. Crews were able to knock the fire down quickly and locate the dogs that were unresponsive, but breathing. both dogs were transported to a local animal hospital with the help of Wells Township PD, and around 5:45 we’re told they were both awake and moving. Special thanks goes out to all of our mutual aid partners from Tiltonsville, Rayland, Yorkville, Smithfield & Mingo Jct. The incident is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. We ask that you please keep the family in your thoughts, and if any info is made available on being able to help them out we will keep you informed.

Not Your Average Neighbor Story on WTRF this evening.
The Brilliant VFD is honored to have had an individual be such an influence on not just our organization, but to all others in our region! Gary always pushed those around him to be a better firefighter, and person. We would also like to thank Val, RC, and Jess for allowing the time spent away from his family at home to ensure those at our organization, as well as community members were safe in times of tragedy. Although gone from us physically, his spirit carries on through our organization, as well as the GRF Training Academy. Thank You Chief, for your years of dedication and and persistence in making all of us better!
