ATTENTION! Brilliant Students will receive Free Passes to tonight's game versus the Phillips Bears! This pass is ONLY good for the STUDENT listed and ONLY for tonight's ballgame!
The pass must be surrendered at the Home Gate in order to get Free Entry! Students must have their pass with them in order to get in for no charge! Everyone come out and support our Tigers tonight! Go Tigers!

Brilliant Police Department would like to wish all of our students, teachers, staff, and parents a safe and successful first day of school! We hope everyone has a great year full of learning, growth, and plenty of great memories.

As everyone gets back into the school routine, please remember to slow down and obey all posted school-zone speed limits. Watch closely for children crossing the roadway, buses loading and unloading, and increased traffic around our schools.

A few extra minutes is never worth risking a child’s safety.

Today is a proud day for the Brilliant Police Department, our schools, and our entire community.

For the first time in Brilliant’s history, we now have a dedicated School Resource Officer serving Brilliant Elementary School and Brilliant High School.

When I took over as Chief of Police, one of my short-term goals was to establish an SRO position for our schools. I believed then, and still believe today, that protecting our children and building positive relationships between law enforcement and our students should be one of our highest priorities.

Today, I’m proud to say we accomplished that goal. 💙

An SRO is more than an officer in a school. This position is about being present, building trust with students, supporting our teachers and staff, mentoring our young people, and being ready when our schools need us most.

This milestone also means something even bigger: every school in Marion County now has an SRO protecting and serving its students. That is something our entire county can be proud of.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but this is a major step forward for Brilliant. I’m thankful to everyone who helped make this possible and supported the vision of making our schools and community safer.

Our kids deserve our best—and we’re going to keep giving it to them.

🚔 MEET OUR NEW SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER Josh Byars!! 🐯💙

The Brilliant Police Department is proud to introduce our new School Resource Officer serving Brilliant Elementary School and Brilliant High School!

Our SRO’s role goes far beyond providing security. It’s about building relationships with our students, supporting our teachers and staff, being a positive role model, and helping make sure every student has a safe place to learn and grow.

We’re excited to have our SRO in the halls, at school events, and involved with our students throughout the school year.

If you see our new SRO around campus, be sure to stop and say hello! 👋🚔

Here is a little background of SRO💙🖤

Investigator Byars is a 2023 graduate of the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy and serves with the Brilliant Police Department as the Brilliant School Resource Officer. In this role, he is committed to supporting a safe, positive school environment while building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
Investigator Byars has completed extensive law enforcement training, including SWAT Team Leader, SWAT, Sniper, Tactical Narcotics Officers Course, and Traffic Homicide Investigation. He also serves as a Master Sergeant in the Alabama National Guard and is currently attending the Sergeants Major Academy, bringing more than 25 years of military experience as an Infantryman and Military Police Officer.
Throughout his career, Investigator Byars has served in multiple combat and overseas assignments and has received numerous awards and foreign badges. He is a member of the Alabama Marksmanship Team, has earned the Governor’s Twenty Marksmanship Tab, and is a certified rescue diver. Outside of his public service, he enjoys scuba diving, traveling, hunting, and managing a small farm.

Swamp Johns will be at the Brilliant Fire Department today! 11-1 the fundraiser is for the Brilliant High School Football Team to help support the players and the program throughout the season.
