Stay safe and stay warm! ❄️🏠
With all the heavy snow we’ve been getting, we know many of you are out there clearing off your roofs to protect your homes. While you're at it, there’s one life-saving step you can’t afford to skip.
⚠️ Check Your Vents
When snow piles up—or when you shovel it off the roof—it can easily block the intake and exhaust vents for your furnace and water heater.
The Danger: If these vents are blocked, deadly Carbon Monoxide (CO) can back up into your home instead of escaping outside.
The Fix: Take five minutes to clear the area around any pipes or vents sticking out of your roof or the side of your house.
🚨 Protect Your Family
Carbon monoxide is a "silent killer" because you can't see, smell, or taste it.
Test Your Alarms: Make sure you have working CO detectors on every level of your home and near sleeping areas.
Fresh Batteries: If your detector is chirping or it’s been more than 5–7 years, it’s time for a replacement.
Remember: If your CO alarm sounds, get everyone outside into the fresh air immediately and call 911.
Stay safe out there, neighbors! If you have elderly neighbors, consider checking their vents for them too. 🛡️🔥
