What should you do if an earthquake strikes?

If you are...

Inside the house 👉 Drop, cover, and hold
Outside the house 👉 Drop and stay away from power lines
In bed 👉 Stay there and cover your head and neck with a pillow
In the car 👉 Move away from power lines, stay inside, and turn off your engine

Then, focus on staying calm!

It's summer: Time to test your heatstroke knowledge!

Can you recognize signs of heatstroke?

🥵 Hot, red skin
😣 Changes in consciousness
🤢 Vomiting and high body temperature

Do you know what to do?

🚑 Call 9-1-1 immediately
❄️ Move to a cooler place
🧊 Cool down with cold water, cold wet towels, or bags of ice

Do you know tsunami warning signs?

If you're on the coast and....
🔺 Feel an earthquake
🔺 The ocean recedes drastically
🔺 You hear a noise like a roar
..Move IMMEDIATELY inland or to high ground.

✔️ Head uphill 100-120 feet above sea level or at least 2 miles away from the coast
✔️ If you can't reach higher ground, evacuate vertically to the third or higher floor of a building

❌ Don't go back to the beach to watch the tsunami
❌ Leave your car behind and go on foot if roads are damaged
❌ If you're outside the tsunami hazard zones, stay where you are

It's when an area experiences a combination of:
🌡️ Warm temperatures
🔻 Low humidity
💨 Strong winds
..Which creates an increased risk of fire danger.

🚩 If you see a red flag warning, use extra caution—because even a single spark can cause a wildfire!

🤔 Pop Quiz:
What's a WUI?

WUI stands for Wildland-Urban Interface, and it describes the transition zone between wild and urban areas. In other words, areas of vegetation between undeveloped areas and homes and buildings.
Brisbane, Daly City, and Pacifica are all home to WUIs and are at higher risk for wildfires.

So residents, make sure you plan and prepare for wildfire emergencies!

🏖️ Headed to the beach?

Make sure to follow these tips to help reduce your weather-related risk:

🏄🏽‍♂️ Go to beaches with lifeguards
🏊 Never swim alone
👶 Supervise young and inexperienced swimmers
🌊 If caught in a riptide, call for help and swim along the shore
💦 Remain hydrated during excessive heat
🌴 Relax in the shade and cool off in the water
⛈️ If you hear thunder or see lightning, take shelter in a building or hardtop vehicle

It could make all the difference in an emergency!
