Supporting Older Adult Services Through Sustainable Funding

Pennsylvania’s aging network is facing increasing financial strain as the older adult population continues to grow while funding for services struggles to keep pace. By 2030, one in three Pennsylvanians will be age 60 or older.

At the same time, the Pennsylvania Lottery Fund, which supports PENNCARE and many aging services, has seen significant losses connected to the growth of skill games. P4A, the Pennsylvania Association of Area Agencies on Aging, estimates the Lottery Fund is losing approximately $170 million in revenue tied to skill games.

This toolkit was created by PASC's Advocacy Committee to help senior centers, provider agencies, staff, volunteers, older adults, and community members advocate for sustainable funding solutions that support older Pennsylvanians.

Police Memorial Week was last week, and National EMS week is this week. Police Cars and Bagpipes gathered yesterday and traveled to other police departments. In Bristol Township - Memorializing Officer Stuckey. National Police Week 2026 was observed from May 10 to May 16, with May 15 officially designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day.

National EMS Week 2026 is observed from May 17 to May 23, 2026. The 52nd annual week-long campaign is celebrated under the theme "Improving Outcomes, Together," which highlights how emergency medical personnel collaborate with 911 dispatchers, public health officials, and law enforcement.

The 2026 Bucks County Tour of Honor is scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026. The trip provides local veterans (who served prior to 2/28/1991) with an all-expenses-paid trip to visit Washington, D.C. Visits include Arlington National Cemetery and major memorials including the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam memorials. Departing from Parx Casino East, this trip concludes with a "Welcome Home" celebration. Event Features: Law enforcement es**rted bus trip, meals included, and a dinner reception upon return. The goal of the Bucks County Tour of Honor is to transport United States Military Veterans from the Bucks County area to Washington, DC. A law enforcement es**rt will accompany the tour while veterans visit memorials and sites that convey the principles of the United States of America.
