On June 4, 2026, Bristol Police officers located a stolen motor vehicle and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The operator of the vehicle refused to stop and fled from officers. A short time later, the vehicle was abandoned by its occupants, who fled the area on foot.
Officers immediately established a perimeter and initiated an extensive search of the surrounding neighborhood. Numerous officers from the Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division responded to assist in the search effort. The Connecticut State Police K-9 Unit also responded and assisted officers in searching the area.
After an extensive perimeter search, officers located one suspect hiding in the yard of a nearby residence in the vicinity where the stolen vehicle had been abandoned. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
During the course of the investigation, officers recovered a loaded handgun from inside the stolen vehicle. The firearm was loaded with armor-piercing ammunition. The firearm and ammunition were seized as evidence.
As a result of the investigation, officers arrested:
Ronnie Robernson Cajou, Jr. (DOB: 10/04/2006) out of 141 Harris Circle Unit 2D, Waterbury CT 06704

-C.G.S. § 29-38 — Criminal Possession of a Firearm
-C.G.S. § 29-35 — Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit
-C.G.S. § 53-202w — Criminal Use of a Firearm or Electronic Defense Weapon
-C.G.S. § 53a-167a — Interfering with an Officer

-C.G.S. §§ 53a-48 / 53a-124 — Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the Third Degree

Cajou was held on a $100,000 bond pending arraignment in New Britain Superior Court.
