In July the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department responded to 30 incidents. Of those, nearly half were mutual aid calls to neighboring districts such as Naples, East Bloomfield, Honeoye and Cheshire. Mutual aid is vitally important to the volunteer fire services. The resources provided by our local districts are priceless when it comes to calls like house fires, vehicle accidents that involve more than one car or truck, brush fires, etc... BVFD was also toned out for eleven calls to provide EMS first response and assistance to Canandaigua Emergency Squad.

In August our drills will include a training at a local farm in preparation for possible silo fires, a review of the use of Ontario County's Foam Trailer and an in-service on our newly purchased SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus).

We also have $5 tickets available for purchase of a chance to win a fire pit and four composite adirondack chairs. The drawing will be held during our Clambake on September 19th. You do not have to be present to win.

The Bristol Volunteer Fire Department is holding a raffle for a fire pit and 4 composite Adirondack chairs donated by Phelps Cement. Tickets are $20 and are available from any department member or at Station 1 on Monday nights after 6:30p. The drawing will be held during our Clambake on September 19th. You do not have to be present to win.

Please contact the link below to urge Governor Hochul to sign the new bill. Your volunteer firefighters deserve some credit.

For nearly 20 years, New York's Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers Tax Credit has remained unchanged.

I was proud to support S.6233-A/A.6790-A, legislation that increases this tax credit for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers. The bill increases the credit from $200 to $800 for individuals and from $400 to $1,600 for married couples filing jointly. It also allows eligible volunteers to receive both the tax credit and a local property tax exemption.

This is the second year we have passed this bill in the Senate and the first year it has passed both houses of the Legislature. Now, it awaits the Governor's signature.

Please join me in urging the Governor to sign this legislation into law. It is an important first step in supporting the dedicated firefighters and ambulance workers in our communities.

Bristol Volunteer Fire Department Station 2 is located on County Road 2 at Baptist Hill Road. The station got a spring spruce up last week. Two of our newest members, Malcolm and Denise Comfort, had noticed that the station sign was in need of an "uplift." They took it upon themselves to take the sign down and repaint it. Multiple members of the department power washed the building and put the refreshed sign back up. Check it out next time you're driving by.

In the month of May the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department responded to thirty calls. Six of those calls were mutual aid to surrounding districts to assist with unattended outside fires, a possible gas leak and a structure fire. Mutual aid in the fire service is vital to ensure the safety of our community and those communities that surround us.

Our helicopter landing zone continues to prove its value each month. Ambulances can bring critical patients from surrounding communities to our landing zone to meet up with air medical, saving valuable time in getting the patient to definitive care.

Our mandatory OSHA training has finished for the year. We will start training in the month of June with CPR recertification. We carry AEDs on all our first out apparatus and our rescue vehicle. Our firefighters and EMTs are prepared to step in and perform compressions while waiting for an ambulance crew to arrive. We also will be participating in two live burns this month and having a drill on extrication of patients from vehicles involved in collisions.

We are gearing up for our annual clambake in September. If you, or someone you know, has a business that would like to contribute a raffle basket or items to be used as door prizes please contact us. We host nearly 600 people at this event - it would be a great way to have your product or service get advertised. BVFD is saddened to hear of the passing of Terry Yount. He is a legend in the EMS world.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our member Terry Yount. Terry started with us as a paid Paramedic and when he retired quickly submitted an application to be a volunteer Ambulance Driver. Terry was awarded the 2025 Ambulance Driver of the Year award at our recent banquet. His unforgettable voice, incredible laugh and endless Civil War stories will be sorely missed. Thank you for your service to the Richmond community. Our hearts are with his twin brother and family!
